The restaurant refuses to provide metal utensils to customers seated in the pizzeria area because they say that customers are throwing them out. I am a regular customer who comes weekly and I need the fork and knife because the pizzas have all kinds of different toppings that cause the pizza slice to become awkward to handle if eaten with fingers. Items like eggplant, chicken, bacon, mushrooms, and lettuce (grease, too) will slide right off the slice. I prefer not to eat in such a messy way with these types of heavy toppings that are not anchored to the slice (which, of course, they shouldn't be). Not everyone likes to eat pizza with his/her hands and particularly, this kind of specialty kind. My complaint is this: they should allow people in the pizzeria to use metal utensils if they choose to. For people who throw utensils out, put a big sign up, so people become aware of what they are discarding when they throw out their trash. The restaurant did not even try to do this first; all of sudden, one day, no metal utensils available. I assume the loss of utensils is a cost issue, but I don't ever see that this pizzeria-restaurant is hurting for customers. Putting this aside, the customer who is seated in the pizzeria part should not be left to feel like they are eating in the very informal area with finger food, as opposed to a dining room where people might be eating other types of meals. Furthermore, often people do eat things that are entrees in the pizzeria that would require a knife and fork; maybe these would be exceptions because they are not pizza? Also, very importantly, the plastic utensils this place provides are useless; the knives have a very small, serrated edge and do not cut through the crust, and the fork prongs break. These plastic utensils are flimsy and not sturdy. How is a customer who wants to eat neatly, and not quite so informally, enjoy eating a loaded slice of pizza using these ineffective "tools"?
