I consigned 16 paintings to UUU Art Collective for a solo exhibition of my work at their space on State Street. The exhibition was open from January 2020 through March 2020. UUU Art Collective still has possession of 15 of those paintings. They agreed to return them to me following the ending of the exhibition, but over two years later they still have my paintings in their care and they are refusing to return them as they had agreed upon, despite many attempts to contact them. The value of all of the paintings they haven't returned is a total of $27,420 USD One artwork was purchased during the run of the exhibition. UUU and I agreed upon an 50/50 revenue share for any works sold. The price of the painting was $260, and therefore UUU needed to remit a payment of $130 USD. This has yet to happen despite numerous follow ups. I brought 30 T-shirts that I designed to sell during the exhibition. The shirts were available for sale for $25 USD, with $5 from every sale going to UUU. I sold 15 shirts during the run of the exhibition, and UUU collected the funds for each sale - therefore I need to receive a payment of $300 USD for the sale of the shirts. UUU is refusing to remit payment, and stating that they changed to a new POS system and therefore lost all records of the sales. This loss of records on their part should not absolve them from their payment responsibility. The owner/founder of UUU is a man named KC S*******. I have called, texted, and emailed KC on numerous occasions, receiving a few intermittent responses and zero action taken on his part to pay me for the painting and tshirts sold during the show, or return all of my paintings from the exhibition space. After speaking to other artists who have worked with KC, they all site similar issues where KC has taken advantage of them with his refusal to pay for works sold under his care, or return works. I'd like to advocate for the return of my paintings, and the remittance of payment owed to me. Thank you.
