My complaint is with "Louie" (no last name given or on his card), the contractor I dealt with for a sidewalk replacement. On September 14th, 2023, I signed a contract with Louie to replace the sidewalk from our driveway to our front porch. Before I signed the contract, I took Louie to our neighbors home to see what we wanted. He took measurements but did not write anything down and there was NO square footage in the contract. On Tuesday, the 24th of October, Louie came with his crew and removed the old sidewalk. He did not dig out an area large enough to fulfill our agreement. He said he was going to replace what we had already, not what we agreed on. I walked him back to the neighbor's property to show him the sidewalk again. Louie took no measurements and seemed confused and left. I was not confident that he was going to give us the sidewalk that we wanted, so I measured the neighbor's sidewalk and dug out my yard to match it. On Thursday, the 26th of October, the subcontractor (Kevin M******) came to do the replacement. He realized that the plan he had received from Louie was different from my plan. He called Louie, who came over and proceeded to yell and swear (loud enough for my neighbors to hear) at me for changing the plan. He refused to let me talk at so I told him to leave and I would deal with Mr. M******. Louie left but Mr. M****** said that his contract was with Louie and couldn't do the work. I asked if he had any suggestions for what I could do to finish this job? He said that he would talk to Louie and see what could be done. I had already paid Louie $1,900 (half the value) for the job. Mr. M****** (of M******'s Landscape and Design, LLC) was able to get Louie to release him and he finished the work. He needed some extra materials and we agreed on a price to cover his cost. Mr. M****** and his sons did a great job and we sincerely appreciate his work and his ability to to deal with Louie and get our job completed.
