I have been a Reimer Home Services customer since 2008. I have been a Service Member since 2008. I am entitled to Winter and Summer heating and cooling inspections on my furnace and air conditioner. I received a postcard from Reimer notifying me that it was time for my Winter inspection. I made an appointment for that inspection on Dec. 19, 2022. My furnace was working properly as was my Ecobee thermostat that came with my furnace which was newly installed by Reimer in 2020. On Dec. 19, Derrick, the Service Tech, appeared to inspect the furnace and thermostat. After a while, he came upstairs and told me that he was sorry. He dropped a screw and shorted out the hot wire for the Gas Valve and Thermostat and would try to repair it. He was unable to do that. He said he would install a non-wifi battery-operated thermostat because he could not make the repair. He said he would return later with his supervisor. It still could not be repaired but they would figure something out. On Jan. 9th I called to find out when the repairs would be made. The servicemen appeared, and decided it could not be done because a new hot wire could not be installed, but, they could install a new wifi-thermostat for only $240 and would install it for free. When I called to complain, I spoke with Margo (Sadly, I got sharp with her and she was responsible for nothing). She told me Derrick reported that he found a bad hot wire during the inspection and that was the problem. He lied. Please note that furnaces do not turn themselves on and off on their own without a working thermostat to tell them when to turn on or off. Also, please note, I have the System Report signed by Derrick on which he noted the wiring was inspected and was "Good." That is attached. Margot told me I would be called on Friday the 13th or Monday the 16th. Well, it is 6 PM the 17th, no one has called. I believe this is an attempt to not accept responsibility for the damage done to the wiring to save money.
