For years, my family has donated clothing and shoes to a local donation bin run by this company "County Recycling LLC", which prominently says the proceeds go toward local Westchester County Parks, and they advertise on the box that it is a BBB accredited company, so we always believed this to be a trusted entity. Sunday evening, my elderly father dumped about 12 boxes of clothing and shoes, but mistakenly dumped one box into the bin that was NOT supposed to be dumped there (sentimental, irreplaceable items of my mom's). Frantic, I tried using the contact information listed on the box called the phone number (which is disconnected), tried going to the website (which is not in service) and visited the location listed on the box (it's a non-descript, "rented/shared" suite of offices, with no signage or staff there). I spoke with a general employee at the building, who scratched his head when I asked for the company, and only found a name in the directory (*******************) with no phone number! I sat outside the bin yesterday afternoon and again this morning (kind county employees mentioned the time of day the truck normally comes) hoping to encounter a truck, to no avail. The employees also shared that they've seen the guy who drives the truck regularly sort through the stuff and set aside items he personally wants before dumping the unwanted donated items into the main bin. This is for charity and we donate from the kindness of our hearts. I expect non-profit charities to be honest and reachable and need someone from this company to contact me ASAP to try to salvage my mother's irreplaceable items. Time is of the essence to avoid the items being lost forever, and my elderly mom is "beside herself" with anxiety, with the thought of potentially losing her items, but also trusting a "ghost" charity all these years.
