DC Home Repairs, Inc., Owner Richard (D*****) ***** of **** ****** ***** ************ ** *****, was hired for roofing work at my house on *** ******* ***** *************** **. Mr. ***** required a $20,000.00 cash deposit which I paid to him on July 5, 2023. On or about July 18, 2023, I observed two Guatemalan men, a woman and a young man working on my garage roof. Mr. ***** stated he could not work on the main house roof because he could not find 18 foot boards at any lumber yard. I went to a local Amish sawmill and ordered the 18 foot lumber. I set up a date for Mr. ***** to pick up the lumber but he never picked them up. Around that time, I went to the property and found that the singles were not put up correctly and the workmanship was very poor. I noticed there was no flashing where the garage meets the house and I noticed sunshine pouring into the garage. I also noticed burn mark holes in the open flame torch down part of the roof that were letting water in. I asked Mr. ***** to stop work until I could meet with an architect about the repairs. The architect stated that I should stop all work with DC Home Repairs, Inc. I met with Mr. ***** where he screamed and yelled at me that he was going to rip the roof off as I pointed out all the mistakes and found out he has 1) NO WORKERS' COMP INS. 2) HE VIOLATED NYS LAW as he did not deposit my funds into an escrow account 3)Would not show me his liability ins documents including open flame torch down rider 4) Did not apply or receive a Town Building Permit as he said he would. I believe he has been Scheming to Defraud me all along as his workers do not even know how to put on a simple shingled garage roof much less re-frame my main roof structure and apply rubber roofing. This explains his delay, saying he could not find lumber. This is Grand Larceny. Please BBB, help me to get my $20,000.00 deposit back so I can move on and hire someone else. Pls investigate if DC Home Repairs, Inc. is a legitimate business.
