We hired Pablo Alers of Alers remodeling and constructionto do a bathroom renovation in November of 2021. Work began November 29, with a completion date of December 22. Many days the workers showed up an hour or more after the time they said they would be there and lack of communication was just the beginning of headaches we had on this project. December 22 came and went, and the shower tiling hadn’t even started yet. We were out of town for Christmas when the tiling was done and when we returned we were so disappointed. The tile job was poorly done. We’ve had 2 professional tilers come and told us it was not done correctly and that we would have problems down the road. The workers also broke a frame off our wall, broke our broom, used our good kitchen towels as rags and did not keep the area clean at the end of each day. At this point it’s January, Pablo agrees the tile job is not up to par and agrees to tear it out and replace it at no cost to us. Mind you, we’ve already paid him over $17,000 plus material expenses. We sit down to talk about finishing touches on the job, because redoing the shower tile wasn’t the only thing left to finish and he said he was walking away from the job. He got up and left. Job not completed, no offer of paying for the new tile job. Nothing. We also decided when demo started to replace 5 doors. We paid him for the doors a week into the project and 2 months later, no doors and no reimbursement. I have contacted him about the doors and he has not responded. We paid $1300 for the doors that were never delivered but he cashed my check immediately when given to him. We’ve hired a new contractor to finish the job who has said the framing for the walls was done incorrectly using the wrong screws and it would never have passed inspection. There was also globs of thinset found underneath the shower bench that was still wet weeks later. I also came home to finding a teenager painting the bathroom, I thought I hired professionals.
