We entered into an agreement in August 2023. We paid over $7,000 as the deposit to cover the materials cost of the job. We were initially told the fence would be installed by the end of September and had been given a wide variety of excuses pushing off the work. It's now February 2024 and we still do not have the fence installed. We've been extremely patient, wanting the job to be completed, but we've lost that patience and would like our money back. I've uploaded documentation proving we've paid the deposit, and also the latest agreement which promises a discount of $100 per business day each day after 1/5/2024 where the fence is not completed.

One of my friend's neighbor referred Jim for installing a backyard fence. We went and saw their fence and really impressed with Jim's work. So, on September 2023, we contacted Jim to install our backyard fence. He came down in couple of days time and made a measurement and gave a decent quote and told the work would start once he orders the fence from his vendor. He asked us to pay a down payment of $4,500 and would contact once the panels are available. Since there was no correspondence from him for 3 weeks, I tried to reach out to him and he did not pick up my calls or responded to my SMSs. After many attempts I was able to reach him and told him to cancel the contract. He agreed to that and told my refund will be issued as soon as he returns the panels to the store. It is been nightmare after this. He stopped picking up the call nor responded to SMSs. It is been 4 weeks since he responded. Not sure what to do next!!!

On August 4th we contracted Trust a Fence to put a fence around our installed pool and replace fence that was removed previously by the company to install the fence. There were consistently delays and the work has still yet to be completed. Informed him we would like to start the refund process on January 3rd. He confirmed he would and we would receive the refund in 3-5 days. We still have not received any refund and communication has stopped.

We hired trust a fence-( Jim B*****) on December2nd. To install a chain linked fence and relocating 2- wood panels to extend side fence line. The price quoted for the work was $1814.32. He requested 1/2 down , we then gave him a check for $907.14. He said the work would start on December 19th is now January 24. And after excuse after excuse 54days no work is done. I requested my money back 2-weeks ago but to no avail. I should have read the reviews about him before I hired him. It’s the same scam he uses 1/2 the money down, then he never shows up.

On 9/1/2023, I obtained an estimate for $13839.71 from Jim for installing a 6’ (H) style 101 Diamond lattice fence with gothic post caps and 6’ (W) double driveway for my house in Cohoes, NY (Estimate #***). In response to this estimate, I made an advance payment of $8303.87 on 09/01/23: 1st payment was for $4000 by check (Check #***, Dated 09/01/23) and second payment was by credit card for $4303.87. The fence installation was expected to happen on 10/04/23 (64 days from receipt of order) and per Jim's requests, I had extended the installation date by one week to 10/11/23. However, since neither the material delivery, nor the fence installation happened by 10/11/23, I had requested that the order be cancelled, and the amount of $8303.87 refunded back. Despite several promises, I have been unable to get this refund (3 months). I filed a dispute with the credit card company for $4303.87 that was paid using my card and got the credit card refund on 01/21/24. I am now trying to recover the $4000 paid by check.

We hired the company in September 2023 to install a fence. $4775 was provided via certified check. The work was promised to be completed by November. The owner constantly delayed the start of the project with myriad excuses. Finally, after months of delay, on 12/27/23, the owner promised the work would be completed by 1/4/24 or a full refund would be provided. The work never began. We paid nearly $5K in September and the work never even started. He has since promised to return our money, but everyday there is an excuse as to why he cannot pay, along with a promise to pay within a day or two.

We hired Jim B***** and Trust a Fence in September of 2023 to build a fence. On 11/15/23 we gave Jim a cashiers check in the amount of $4,763.38. What followed was months of delays and excuses about why work could not start. This is all documented in a text message chain. Finally on December 6, 2023 Jim messaged us that there would be yet another delay, and that if we wanted to go in a different direction he would understand. We indicated that we would like to cancel the job. At that time he promised to return our full deposit by 12/15. That did not happen. This is all documented in a text message chain. In the following weeks we received updates indicating that he would pay us back, but it is now January 10th and we have yet to receive our deposit. This is all documented in a text message chain. In the ensuing weeks.

On July 18, 2023 I accepted a contract to install a fence in our backyard with James B***** and paid a 3,900 down payment for purchase of materials. B***** had been recommended by my neighbor **** He installed her backyard fence a couple of years before. The total price for our fence was 6,500. The work was to be completed by end of summer, but there was no date specified. On August 7 we texted to see when he could start. First he said 8/31, then he kept delaying. His excuses were many. He even included pictures of his trucks and copies of emails from his mechanic. First he was on another job, then his trucks broke down, then more excuses until 12/28 when I texted him and he responded with another excuse. I texted him on December 6th requesting the deposit be returned by certified check by 12/15. He did not return the deposit, saying he had to wait until he got his money from the supplier. He has had the deposit money since July 20th. I checked your website sometime in the summer and saw some complaints, but B***** responded on your site saying that COVID had set him back. Today when I looked back at your website it appeared to have been updated and now I see 18 complaints filed in the last 3 years. In some instances BBB intervened and deposits were returned. I have all text communications between us, a voice mail, the contract. Although the business is not accredited by BBC the business has a rating on one website of 2.5 out of 5, which is seriously misleading. This man is still scamming people with impunity. His business should be shut down. Any help you can give will be appreciated.

On July 18, 2023 I entered into a contract with Jim B****** the owner of Trust A Fence, to install a fence on my property. On that date I paid a deposit of $4,002.13. Since that date I have received multiple text messages and emails from him where he provides excuses for failing to install the fence, promises to reduce the price for this service and provides dates as to when he will do so, but to date he has failed to do so. Most recently, in a text message, at my insistence he agreed to refund this deposit to me today, however he has failed to do so and is unable to provide a date as to when he will do so.

On June 23, 2023, I signed a contract with Jim of Trust A Fence and paid $7, 756.00 to install a 4' black chain link fence with end and corner posts set in concrete 3' deep. This deposit was half the cost of the job. The quantity is 950, which includes one side and the back of our property. To date, only the side is completed with posts, however no fencing has been installed. Posts have not been completed across the back. The completion date was originally promised for the end of July 2023. I have received texts and phone calls with apologies for the delays, and requests for extensions of the completion date on July 27, August 17, 23, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, September 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 15, 19, 20, and on the 22 he offered to refund my money, more requests for extension on 28. He did not refund my money because he said he had the materials too long. Further requests for extensions September 28, October 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and installed some posts on the 9th. Requests for more extensions on 10, 11, 16, 18, 19, 23, 26, 30, 31, November 1, 2, 8, 15, 20, 21, 27, 28, 30, December 1, and 5. I also had to pay the town $50 for the permit. I had to make several trips to the town offices because the correct insurance and workman's compensation paperwork was incorrect. The contract is #****
