The business is advertising that their Maine Coon breeding lines are negative for HCM, PKD, and SMA along with cardiac issues. However I purchased a maine coon from this business and at the age of two he passed away from HCM and heart failure. According to the veterinarian hospital that I took him to, they stated that it is very common in these breeds due to their size and genetics. They are wrongfully selling and breeding these cats with the advertisement that these issues are unlikely to occur. If I knowingly would have known about this common issue my cat would have been proactively tested and treated for his condition, but we found out when it was too late. Other maine coons were purchased from the same liter and are likely to exhibit these same issues.

******, I made a heartfelt offer to you knowing fully that our lines are safe and healthy and that we bore no responsibility contractually to do so.  Your Veterinarians documentation does not state HCM, nor were you able to submit genetic testing to have that undiagnosed condition corroborated.  We didn’t deserve your attempt to discredit us professionally. This does become “part of doing business” I understand….however we have always exceeded that level of expectation and always will. We are not offering you a kitten gift nor will we accept a new application for you.  I'm sorry for you but the life we lead is of transparency and truth.  We cannot accept this type of retaliation when life, as unfortunate as it may become, happens to a living creature we have trusted in your care. I feel the path for us is forever changed and am no longer comfortable with having one of our babies go home to you. I know this is difficult to process, I wish you the very best….
