Initial Complaint

- Complaint Type:
- Service or Repair Issues
- Status:
- Unresolved
Approximately 6 months after repairs were made, in Nov 2020, the roof began leaking. Contractor came back and made additional repairs, adding roof cement. After another 6 months (summer 2021) the roof was leaking again. I called the contractor again, multiple times & he kept making excuses for not coming and even blamed me for the problems. Aftermultiple calls, he finally sent some workers to make repairs.
Sept 2022 - the roof in leaking again and the contractor is refusing to come.

We did a flat roof and he had railings on the roof in which we requested to have them removed. The consumer was adamant that he did not want them removed. There nothing but a problem and will cost issues.
We probably should have never told the job but he insisted, and we can't guarantee it. We have gone back several times to attempt to repair the issue, however the railing shits and moves and will cause leaking issue. We even went back and fix his ceiling out of goodwill.
Additionally, the consumer would call the person who originally sold him the job (which no longer works for us) and when he did not answer, he finally called me. I had no clue that they still had issues.
We are willing to come out to repair for the last time, only if the consumer removes the railings for good. Otherwise, we can not continue to repair something that we have advised will continue to happen.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
In regard to your recent correspondence about my complaint regarding Roofing Specialists:
MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS STATES that they requested to have the railings on the roof removed and
that I was adamant that I did not want them removed. This is not true. I did not tell them not to remove the railings. In fact, I was aware that they would need to be removed in order to install a drip edge on the roof.
I explained to "Buck" (who was the only person from the company that I had direct contact with) that there was a 3x4' section of plywood on the roof that was rotted. I requested that the plywood be replaced and that was the main reason why I paid for the roofing repairs. The workers did not replace the plywood, but covered over it instead. As a result, the roof still leaks and additional damage has
been incurred inside the house.
I have not heard anything from the contractor since filing the complaint. No issues have been resolved.
As a consumer, I continued to reach out to the person who did the work. I was never notified that he no longer worked for the company and that I was supposed to call the other telephone number. At one point, out of frustration, I did call the number in the advertisement, but nothing was resolved by doing
SO.
