I hired Keith Brown from KB Construction, aka KMB Builders, address unknown, to build a garage for me back in July. We came to an agreement that i would purchase all the supplies and that i would pay him as he goes and gets things done. I paid x amount for the framing. He charged me over $1600 for the roof, which i paid him in full when he told me he was done, but he actually never capped the roof. I paid him x amount for the drywall, which he never actually finished. I paid him x amount for the siding, which he never finished. Both the siding and drywall were still yet to be paid in full. Now comes the electrical. Keith said he was not a licensed electrician, but knew how to run wires. He was to run the wires and when a licensed electrician was involved, they could simply wire the garage to the house. Keith was charging me $2800 for the electrical and i paid him $2550. He again didn't finish. He blew me off for the last 19 days and has not come back to do any work. I reached out to code enforcement, who in turn reached out to Keith. He claimed he would be back to finish the job today, October 30, 2023. Keith did not show up. Keith has not responded to any of my text messages for the last two weeks. I brought a licensed electrician to my home today and it turns out that Keith screwed up every single aspect of the wiring, did not put proper gauges of wiring, did not put the proper electrical box, nor are any of the breakers the right breakers. He also did not put the proper lights or switches in the walls and ceilings. Now all the wires have to be ripped out and replaced, as well as a lot of the drywall has to be cut and the wires taken out. Plus, my backyard has to be trenched for the wiring going from the house to the garage to be underground. This project will cost thousands of extra dollars that should not have been incurred in the first place, had the contractor done his job correctly.

KB Construction was hired to install a 1,440 sq. ft. metal shingled roof on my other house that's located in Georgetown, NY near Syracuse on January 17, 2021. Their handwritten contract states that the whole roof was supposed to be covered with "red brick" metal roof shingles. Not only was the roof left partially unfinished when Keith Brown and his team (which consisted of his three children who were under 18) were done working on March 13, 2021, it wasn't installed correctly. He didn't even order the right color roof shingles. When I mentioned something about this to Keith, he told me that he would come back once he bought a 32 ft. ladder. Having trusted him because he showed up for the job and was there for 3 days with his family, I gave him $3,000 for labor costs. Since March 16, 2021, I have not seen him. After trying to work things out with him, he stalked my primary residence, sent me a photo of my house when he drove by to take a picture of it last year, threatened to burn down my residence, sent harassing texts which far outstripped reality and tried to bully me into not posting anything about what happened. I want him to refund $3,000 of my money because the whole roof has to be repaired, redone and completed. Please make sure that there's a positive resolution.

      Hello,

I received a warranty from KB Construction on March 13, 2021 which was verbal.  Keith Brown stated that he would come back to finish the job once he purchased a 32 ft. ladder from a friend of his.  If you look closely at the handwritten contract that was provided by KB Construction, it doesn't mention anywhere that my metal roof installation was completed.  All it mentions is that their labor costs were Paid In Full on March 16, 2021.  I want to make something clear which I did not when I typed up my original complaint.  Keith Brown and his family were at 352 State Highway 80 Georgetown, NY 13072 from March 10-13, 2021 to do work on my other house.  I am listed as the legal homeowner of that property.  I've been in touch with certain customers of his who hired Keith and his crew for various home improvement projects.  He has a notorious habit of starting projects and not finishing them.  This is probably one reason why he lost his accreditation through the Better Business Bureau.  Please make sure that the verbal warranty is honored.

      Thanks,

      Dave Nuciola
