On 1/11/2023 I met with Chris from Gravelle Family Contracting at my home (** ****** **** ****** ** *****) regarding my Garage that needed to be demo. He was aware that I received a violation from CODES and I need the Garage to be demo ASAP. He gave me a quote for $3,500.00 to remove the Garage and a date of February 6, 2023 to do the work. He also said he would come a day or 2 before so that we can remove the items we would like to keep from the Garage. He needed 1/2 of the money for the down payment, so I gave him a check for $1,750.00 which he cash the same day. Since that I have received nothing but complain and lies from him. He never reached out to codes or submitted any doc. to get the permit. It was not until codes said that I didn't do anything about the violation and gave me another week. I then started communicating with codes to find out exactly what was needed and I cc Chris on all the conversations so he would also be aware. Codes required me to put up a safety fence so that no one can access the area. I passed this information on to Chris even tho he was cc on the conversation. He said he didn't think we needed a fence, and that it was also on private property! however he was going to get a quote for the fence and Asbestos survey that was required. He then texted me with a quote that was extremely high and wanted me to put up a chain link fence that was not required by codes. I told him the fence that codes required is something I can do myself and I was not going to paid him to do that. I when home that evening and put up the safety fence that CODES required and I provided pictures and CODES was satisfied with it. I found an asbestos survey company and had to survey completed and provided it to Chris &. CODES. Chris blocked me and stopped communicating with me once I told him as was not going to paid for a chain link fence that was not required and I was not going to give him anymore $ for thinks I can do myself. I asked him to return my down payment since he is not planning on doing the work. He is refusing to give me my money back and just hangs up on me. He did nothing, he has not submitted the request for the permit. No reason for him to keep my money. I just want my $1,750.00 return to me and I'm hiring someone else to do the work. On November 7, 2022, we contacted Chris to install 2 sinks in our home and to complete the installation of a water filter that he worked on a year prior. Chris gave us an estimate of $400.00 total to complete the job and asked for a deposit of $200.00 via *****. Given that we had met him already and that he had done some work for us in the past, we sent him the $200.00 deposit. He then never showed up to do the work and made several excuses as to why he couldn't come over to do the job over the following month. We then requested he send our deposit back and he never did. He made up excuse after excuse and then stopped responding to our text messages requesting the return of our $200.00 for services we never received.Initial Complaint

Chris (owner of business) sent me a "contract" over email on july 20, 2022 for the work he was to do on my house. He had stated that it would take 3-4 days but it stretched into more than 2 weeks as he was working other jobs. The contract stated i needed to pay him cash 1/2 the money up front and 1/2 at the end. I paid him half at the begining and he started the work. His wife (not a licensed contractor) was helping him. I was working so not present for most of the work being done. After coming and going for over 2 weeks, chris said he needed the second half to get materials to finish the job. I paid him in cash and havent seen him since. The job is not complete and what he has already done is starting to come apart as it was done incorrectly (pics attached). He pulled out the dishwasher to do work and left it with no power. I had to call an electrician to fix it (pics attached). I have called/texted/emailed chris about these issues but he has not replied. I still need the work finished so now need to find someone else to do it and pay even more money. He is running a VERY dishonest business and is scamming and stealing from me and probably other people. I doubt he is paying all his taxes as he only takes cash. He works through ********** and I will be reporting him there as well!Business response

Chris Gravelle was working at my daughter's home doing some wall renovations. I was looking to have my roof replaced and already had a few quotes. Whilst talking to my daughter she said that Chris does roofing with someone and if I would like him to take a look, He came on 8/9/22 and went up on the roof . He indicated he worked with a roofer. They would have 3 people working. It will be done 8/23 8/24. He said they would need 50% down which was $7000.00. I gave him a check and he gave me a very basic receipt. I asked a lot of questions 8/10/22 I emailed and ask him for a detail proposal as to what they will Replace, Install, Remove and Dispose GOT NO REPLY 8/11/22 I emailed Chis to cancel the roof for 1. I could not find Reviews and information on the internet about him doing any roof 2. He did not send me the proposal as requested on 8/10 3. I told him I needed my deposit for I am cancelling 8/11/22 Chris sent me a link to his insurance thru Next. I sent him an email with a list of things other roofers specify they would do to show him what he should have sent. He emailed me back saying "I was doing the same thing that's all part of replacing the roof" NOTHING IN WRITING Obviously he does not know how to conduct a business 8/11/22 Chris went in and deposited my check. I tried to put a stop payment but the bank said if it came in that night they would have to honor it. It did. During emails Chris LIED 1. Said I did not cancel within 3 days (I have emails to prove it) 2. Said that I told him to hold the check for 3 days. I did not 3. He had NO PROBLEM RUNNING to the bank and deposited MY check. His bank put 3 days hold on his a/c for the check until it cleared my bank. It is obvious he does not understand how bank works. 4. I called him at 8.34 a.m on 8/17/22 and he said the check was in the mail 3 days ago. In another email which I said I did not receive the check he said IDK what you are talking about. I have his phone # where I spoke to him on my log
