On Thursday March 10th I called this establishment to have an issue on my husbands death certificate corrected. I contacted this funeral home and the man who answered was extremely rude and unprofessional. My husband and I were living separately at the time of his death, but we were still legally married. He had a girlfriend at the time of his death. I was pretty much put on the outs when this whole thing happened by his family. I'm pretty sure this funeral director knows my late husbands girlfriend personally and proceeded to take his feelings out on me. When I called and he found out who I was his demeanor automatically changed. He became very aggressive and rude. He asked me why I even needed the death certificate, when I tried telling him it was to provide proof of the end of the marriage, he hung up on me. I proceeded to call back and he answers "if you continue to be rude to me I'm not going to help you". I tell him I'm not being rude it seems like you have personal feelings against me, even though I've never met you. Then he proceeds to tell me that there's an outstanding balance and if I'm going to pay it. I tell him sure if you fix this error, he then hangs up on me again. Come to find out there is not an outstanding balance and he was just braiding me. I can not believe the actions that came from this place, especially in my time of grief.Business response

On Thursday, March 10, 2022 **** did call my office and when I answered the phone, she just said I am his wife and the Social Security number on his death certificate is incorrect. I had to ask who she was talking about and then she would not give me her name, just I am his wife. When it comes to death certificates or any other personal information, we do not give this out on the phone without prior proof as to whom we are speaking to. She became combative and I will not respond in such a way. I did disconnect the call twice, as to she was not the family member we have had contact with and has been no part of the arrangements or services here. I have not met her, nor do I have any proof that she is his wife or ex-wife. I did contact the family and did find out the number was incorrect and have since corrected it. She claims that I provided her with a death certificate, which is completely false. We only provide those to the legal next of kin.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I never claimed I received the death certificate from them, because he was more than interested in how I obtained it and where. Which I told him. Also I did state my name, which is clearly on the death certificate. Actually when I stated my name, that is when the aggression and unprofessionalism really escalated. I had to contact my husbands girlfriend to call in and have the matter revised. A person should never be treated how this business treated me, especially for a slight typing error, again.
