Was directed by physician to go to Quinlan’s Medical Equipment in Utica, NY to get an ***** ****** *** *** ****** back brace before ALIF surgery scheduled for 10/5/22 and later rescheduled for 12/7/22. Specifically asked sales rep if the cost of the brace was covered by my *** insurance and he told me it was. Quinlans billed *** $1221.19. *** allowed $699.71 and paid Quinlans 349.85. I received a bill for the remaining balance of $349.86 (sales order 200437, customer id *****, doc id ***************. The same exact braces are selling online at stores for under $300.00. Seriously greedy and outrageous. I think *** paid a reasonable amount and don’t feel I should contribute any more monies to this over billing company.Business response

We provided an Aspen Summit 637 LSO back brace for *******. ******* has *** for her heath insurance coverage. Her brace coverage is 50%. *** allows $699.71 for the brace. Quinlan's was paid $349.85. The balance of $349.86 is to be paid by ******* per her *** policy. I have attached a copy of the explanation of benefits from ***. Thank you Eric W***** Director of OperationsCustomer response

In response to my complaint Quinlans failed to admit they are overbilling their customers and insurance companies for there products. Also, their sales reps should not inform consumers that their prescribed medical equipment is fully covered by health insurance when they don’t have a clue. I’m retired and paying out more than $500.00 per month for health insurance due to nothing more than greed. Once again the exact same Aspen Summit back brace is selling online for $300.00 or less and consumers need to be aware of that, in addition to all the other overinflated medical equipment and pharmaceutical costs. I would be more than happy to return the brace. I’m sure the company could find a way to disinfect and resell the product and continue to profit.
