Denial of Short Term disability payment for no reason, Causing me to destroy my credit. I was diagnosed with a medical problem on July 26th 2023, and Amalaged is stating I was diagnosed in January 2023 and February 2023, when the Medical records state that I was seen on 07-26-2023. For some reason, the first set of medical records sent over listed every diagnosis I had for every visit under each record, but each one shows the date I was seen for the diagnosis and the first date I was seen for the **** fissures was on 07-26-2023. I went to the Dr and ask why he was showing it back for every visit and he explained to me how it was printed out, but had a real medical professional looked over them, they would have seen the dates treated and knew what they were looking at. He had to print out each individual record and send it to them and they are still denying my claim. I am still out until I am better to return to work. Here is the timeline. **** fissure turned to colonoscopy, turned to 6 weeks of diarrhea, which gave me an infection in my gut which gave me Guillain-Barre? (Ghee-********************) syndrome (GBS) and that's where I am now. I have limited movement, my body is eating my muscles, can't even button my own pants, was in hospital for 4 days and did 3 days of infusions, hoping that works. *****************? (Ghee-********************) syndrome (GBS) happens when a person's own immune system ***** their bodys nerves. This harm causes muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis. Now I am 3 months without a paycheck, house payment is late, truck payment is late, bills are late, I am trying my best not to destroy my credit. I pay good money for this insurance and they are not holding up to their end of the bargain. and when I talk to people I get the same thing, nothing they can do, it's in the medical examiner's hands. This gentleman this morning said that they were filing an appeal today on my behalf, but I was told they had already done that. I believe they should have to cover the cost of my late payments and stress over paying my bills. It's not fair, the way I am being treated. I pay $194.26 each month for this insurance and they get their money. It comes right out of my paycheck into their bank account. I'm never late, I would like them to PAY me what is owed to me and pay all my late fees. I have other employees that I work with that have had the same problem with them. It seems it's the way they do business. And it's not right or fair. How can a business continue to take peoples money and not pay? The stress and worry I am under is making my body continue done the same destructive path.Business response

They just keep putting it off longer making me go deeper in debt.

My mother had a life insurance policy through this company up until her passing this past April. I have been attempting to speak to a representative simply to confirm that all the appropriate paperwork has been reviewed/completed and nothing further is needed. I cannot speak to someone in regards to life insurance. The customer service representatives state that the life insurance department does not receive outbound calls but we can take a message and ensure someone contacts you within 48 hours. Well its been over a week and Ive since sat on hold for 45 minutes and demanded to speak to a supervisor to be told no one can take my call. This is an unacceptable way to run a business and/or treat people that are trying to grieve the loss of their loved one and try to get their affairs in order. They provide bogus excuses as to why I cannot receive information about MY MOTHERS POLICY. Ref# ********Business response

I have a long term disability policy with this company. I have been disabled since 4-20-20 . My policy is four five years my last payment was 2-14-23 at that time they sent me to a neurologist for an independent review. They refused to pay me or tell me I was denied in April ***** they sent me for an FCE. They refuse to pay me or tell me I am denied. Constantly putting me off. I have three personal physicians that will not allow me to return to work. I really need my money they owe me or a reason why I haven't been paid. I've done every thing asked of me.Business response

08/01/2022 Filed disability claim #*********** I have sent via fax authorization to obtain information and attending psychian statement from ****** . As the company is aware ****** medical provider does not fill out 3rd part forms from anyone they have always provided their own attending physician statement with all the same necessary information. I have been told my claim is just pending as of today. No information as to when it will be processed or paid. I have had to re fax same attending physician statement 8/3, 8/8 and again 29th. I have been told by different agents different information each time I call. I was informed there is no supervisor available to speak with No one never called me back to follow up..I do nor know the status of my claim as today I have been off work since 8/26/2022Business response

FOR 31 YEARS MY MOTHER *************************** HAS BEEN PAYING LIFE INSURANCE FOR HERSELF, THE POLICY WAS ALWAYS PAYED ON TIME AND NEVER LAPSED. THE POLICY WAS ONLY ******* DOLLARS IN WHICH SHE PAYED ALMOST 3 TIMES AMOUNT THE POLICY IS WORTH. *************************** PAST AWAY ON MARCH 23RD 2022 AT THE AGE OF 93 YEARS OLD. SHE IS THE **** OF A VETERAN WHO FOUGHT IN WORLD WAR 1. THE PROBLEM IS THE INSURANCE COMPANY ALMAGATED LIFE IS NOT PAYING THE FUNERAL PARLOR ***** IN BROOKLYN **** FOR THE FUNERAL EXPENCE WHICH WAS A TOTAL OF ******* DOLLARS. I took out a $10,000 life insurance policy in April 2020. My payments were $41 a month and this was taken out my checking account every 28th of the month until April 28,2022. I've tried contacting and no call is ever returned. I always made my payments and it suddenly stopped being drafter April 28, 2022. I'm not sure what's going on and think this may be a bogus company scamming people. I never received a policy number or paperwork. I didn't even think about this until my payment stopped being drafted.Business response

I am being charged a $250.00 Pre-Certification fee from my insurance company because they stated I did not have the necessary certification prior to my procedure. Despite both my doctor's office and I calling and being told we did have approval, Amalgamated Employee Benefits Administrators deny that and stated we both spoke to representatives from Anthem and not them. I called the number on my insurance ID card so how can this be? Attached is my letter and documentation stating my complaint. I wish for the this to be resolved by them removing the penalty fee as I did everything on my end as a patient preparing for a medical procedure (calling the insurance company, speaking with the doctor's office, etc.). I shouldn't be penalized for something that was beyond my control.Business response

Amalgamated Life Insurance Company is not the company providing insurance coverage to the complainant.
