We contracted with Richard Young for gutter cleaning. They came July 11th and did the work. About 3 weeks later my wife was outside and noticed a tree growing out of the gutter. I went up on a ladder to check things and found 1-2 inches of dirt and moss and more trees. These gutters were never cleaned. If I or my wife had not noticed the trees it could have caused damage to the roof among other things. I provided pictures of the gutters with the dirt / moss and sent them to Richard Young. I asked for a refund for work "never done" but have not heard back from them. I also have a concern that other unsuspecting customers will get the same treatment. There are many older people like myself that depend on, and trust someone to do the job they are paid to do. This was just a rip off. Taking advantage of an older couple.Business response

We were contracted to clean out his gutters on 7/11/23. He had plastic gutter guards on most/all of his gutters. We opened up the necessary guards, where we saw debris or near downspouts, to clear out the existing debris that could potentially clog a downspout. Otherwise, we did follow our routine gutter cleaning procedure. Clearing the roof & guards of debris & clearing downspouts, as necessary. Apparently, we missed a gutter section or downspout, where there was some moss & gutter gravel in a section of the gutter or the downspout. This was an oversight & not discovered that day. Before we left the job site, the customer asked our crew to clear the debris that was sticking to the outside of the gutter (the exterior gutter surface). Our crew did use a pole & a rag to clear off some of the debris, and from an unrelated fascia peak (at his request), even though that’s not included in our routine gutter cleaning. (We do offer a separate service known as exterior gutter surface washing, for which the customer did not request nor was he provided an estimate for). Our crew ended up spending an additional 20 minutes there trying to clear off this debris to satisfy the customer, but he still wasn’t happy. Then after that, the crew left to go on with their day. I received his complaint from our crew as they were getting ready to leave his house that morning, that he wasn’t satisfied with the work. After that, I was planning on having us stop back at the end of the day, but work went too late for us to return that day. Then, one of our owners stopped by later that week to finish the gutter cleaning in a more thorough manner. But, ***** refused to have our crew do anything to make things right for him & just showed him a small amount of some mossy debris with some small sprouts in a bucket, that he said he cleaned from one of the gutters. He was just going on & on about blah, blah, blah this & that. We would have made things right by him, but he wasn’t interested. The customer has continued to complain, even though we tried to rectify the job to our satisfaction. Some customers are unfortunately just impossible to please. Fortunately for us, we do have thousands of customers who greatly appreciate our efforts. Thank you for your patience in receiving our rebuttal.
