5/1/2023 GreenStar installed insulation. 5/8/2023 Called Emma (Green Star office) to snap some panels of siding back in. Rich came out and snapped siding on left side of house in. He saw front siding panel and agreed it was wavy, cut and punctured. He called Randy (Foreman) and told him that front siding is damaged. I was with Rich when he called Randy. 5/19/2023 I text Randy and said I would get estimates to repair front siding. Pictures of damage were sent to Randy.. 8/18/2023 Estimate sent to Tara@***********.com. Sent estimate with this comment: Dear Greenstar, my siding was damaged when Greenstar installed the home insulation in May 2023. The workers were Joe, Alec and Nate who were the installers. I believe it was Joe who worked on the front siding. I noticed that some of the siding was not snapped in and a piece of the front siding was bent (wavy). Rich came out to fix the siding. He snapped the siding back in but said there was a cut and puncture in one of the pieces. He called his supervisor to notify Greenstar of the damage. I was standing beside him when he called. I sent Randy pictures of the siding and invited him to see the damage. I don't know if he came by to see it. I sent you the estimate. I did find a piece of siding to match what I have. 8/21/2023 Randy Said he was sending Joe and Nate on Wednesday to do work. I voiced my concern since Joe was the one who had trouble and damaged the siding. I said I would be willing to have them try again but if they do not fix it the way it was then they will pay for someone else to fix it. Randy could not agree to this. I asked to speak with the boss of Greenstar. Randy said boss would call me. Crew from GreenStar was sent to repair siding. Joe, Rob, and Nate came to fix siding. Joe stated they did not have the appropriate equipment to fix siding. Joe called Randy to inform him we needed other equipment to fix siding properly. 9/6/2023 Dan (owner) called me. He stated they will only patch the siding. He will not pay to remove the 1 panel of damaged siding and replacing it with siding I was supplying. Dan said he will get an attorney so he did not have to pay me. I told him just patching the siding was not acceptable because the siding would still be bent and there is no guarantee how long the patch would last. The pictures I sent him of the siding show that the cut and puncture marks more clearly. It also appears that some of the insulation was pushing out the siding. Since Greenstar cannot fix the damage, I had the siding repaired by Lifetime Siding Roofing and Construction for $500. I sent GreenStar the invoice from Lifetime Construction. I never heard from GreenStar. FYI..Lifetime Construction didn’t need any special equipment. They used 1 ladder to fix the siding.

BBB spoke to Tara and the following was relayed: This was an insulation job through NY State. The customer was not the one who paid us.  We are not sure that we even damaged the siding but when she called we said we would fix it for her.  We went out to fix it and she did not like what we were proposing for the repair and she told us not to (she did not want a seam and there was no other way.  We did not tell her that we would pay to have it fixed.  After a few months she sent us a bill for the repair.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ******** , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I appreciate Tara's response. Mentioning that I qualified for the NYS program has no impact on our discussion. I am grateful that I qualified for the program. Damaging my siding in the process and then refusing to pay to fix the damages is the issue. Greenstar did damage the siding and Tara was aware of the damage. I have already described this in my previous submission to the BBB. Additionally, I previously described how their worker came to fix the damage but he said he did not have the equipment to fix it. I provided a solid piece of siding and did not want it cut in two pieces. This did not seem necessary. When I had it repaired by someone else no special equipment was needed and they installed the siding up without it being cut in two pieces. Regards,  ***** *****

On 4/12/21 contract was signed with Green Star home services to replace hot water heater with waterless heater. Equipment was installed/old equipment removed. Flute to old equipment was cut off and left in place. I began to notice roof leaking around flute. I contacted Dan from green star he stated he was busy but would be out soon to address issue. As of 10/19 issue is still unresolved. Numerous attempts have been made to address this. On 10/19 employee from green star met with me to sign for payment. I was not comfortable signing before issue was corrected. Due to strokes I have comprehensive difficulties and have family member present . When I stated I was not comfortable signing Dan called me and started threatening to raise price and put lean on home if I didn’t sign. He used vulgar language. I stated I would call lawyer he told me I couldn’t afford one and was looking for something for free. He hung up then called family back making more threats. I never refused to pay.

This complaint is not coming from the actual customer but the customer's ex-wife. There was no issue at all with the work that we did, we did however schedule three times to look at the customers complaint and three times nobody showed up. We were asked to go to a different address to have some documents signed. At the time a GreenStar representative went to that address, the GreenStar representative was yelled and screamed at by the customers ex-wife and her current husband(NOT THE ACTUAL CUSTOMER). From there we had a representative from NYS get involved to mediate the process. When I was finally able to look at the issue they claimed was wrong with the project, myself and the NYS rep confirmed that our work was done properly and that there were no issues. At that time the customer(with the ex-wife being present) had also sign documents stating our job was complete and that there were no issues.

I attached *** ******'s ******* completion paperwork.  which was signed off in the presence of his ex-wife who filed this complaint and in the presence of **** ***** our ******* rep.I will try to make this as short and to the point as possible.  *** ****** contacted us to replace his hot water tank as he had no hot water.  He qualified for the ******* subsidy program to which he received 50% of a tankless hot water tank.  We were having a hard time getting his completion paperwork signed, after many attempts we finally got him to set up an appt to sign but at his ex-wife's house, in hindsight I wish we never agreed to this, but we were just happy to get it signed and closed out.  When our rep Randy stopped by there he was basically ambushed by a bunch of people whom he didn't know and had nothing to do with anything.  After that *** ******'s ex-wife had taken his phone and told us she would be contacting the BBB and wouldn't let us speak with and or let *** sign the paperwork.  That is why **** ***** from ******* got involved. He agreed to meet with us and *** at ***'s house.  Everyone agreed that everything was good.  *** signed the paperwork.  If you need more info. Please let me know.  Contact InformationThank youTara K******GreenStar Home Services
