Dropped off my boat for a won't start issue they said they were behind and how much they were per hour labor I said okay cap it at $700 fix my boat I pick it up a month and a half later cost me $1,100 of labor and parts I didn't even see no bad parts they never called me feel authorized any of the extra work or parts I stopped in on my own twice they said this they said that finally got the boat, take the boat out to the lake and it starts but it's missing not running good grinding in the engine that was not there the year prior. I take it back to the company they have it alittle over a week tryst to tell me someone had installed a 6volt coil on 12volt system,how could the be when he first diagnosed it and got it started with a 12 volt system with a 12 volt coil. And the grinding he says was normal because it's an older boat was not there last year and he replaced a bearing in the motor that I did not know was even bad.. take the boat to the Lake now the boat will not start again pull it out of the lake take it back to the company where my boats at for 2 weeks additional not even looked at.. frustrated I picked up my boat season was ruined and it sits in my yard and will not run.. disgusted. When Mr. ****** dropped his boat off said it would not start and had someone else work on it I ask what was done but had no paper work and not sure what work was performed. After checking engine over found that parts in distributor were not correct or marine parts. Installed a good used condenser and mounting bracket just to get engine to start and check for any other problems. Cleaned and adjusted points and now has spark and attempt to start. engine would not start without spraying fuel in carb. When engine started it sounds as if every bearing in the engine is bad. Shift cable was also ruined that's why it had no reverse and the shift switch was bypassed. Mr. ****** stopped several times and talked to me and discussed how poor condition this boat is in. I had explained bad this engine was sounding and he claimed it was fine last year. there is no way it just started to sound to like this when I started working on it. We cleaned out the carb of old fuel to get it to idle - removed the outdrive to replace the lower shift cable and the gimbal bearing was rusted to the outdrive shaft and came out with drive removal which it shouldn't have and that is why it was replaced. Water pump was bad and causing engine to overheat went took to lake and had to replace it to continue working on problems of engine. When lake testing and adjusting new shift cable - engine ran as good as it could but is not going to be like a new engine. The coil issue was not the biggest problem but I told him it may help with starting, Mr. ****** said he could get a coil and install. Engine wiring needs work but he could not put any more money in to boat. When he dropped off after hours on a Saturday and put a note 3 page note written with a sharpie in the door with the last thing in his note was Im going to get new battery. I could not get a chance to take a look at it before he just picked it up like he dropped it on when we were closed. I feel more happened to his boat with the place it was at before he brought it to Back Bay Marine but will never know the whole story as I have seen working on these boat for 30+ years. I feel bad for Mr. ****** but did far more work than charged for and feel we could have worked it out but he chose to not stop in and talk it over. And will not refund for work performed. I know it is hard to understand all that has been done. Not sure what more we can do . He paid and picked up 7/19/22 dropped it back off 7/30/22 then took it again sometime about 8/20/22 then files this on a sunday 8/28/22 with out talking to us. I am rejecting this response because:
I am not accepting this oh well too bad for Mr ******, I took to my boat to him it did not run, almost 2 months later the boat still does not run and I was charged $1100 dollars I had put a $700 cap on the price they did not call me to tell me they exceeded this cost. Now there is more damage to my boat and it still does not run, they damaged my motor, they damaged my floorboard, they damaged my switch panel. I will be a lawyering up on this and they will be going to court. They used parts off the shelf that only cost a few dollars used inflated the price on the ship cable 200 and some dollars when it could have replaced for $100 this place is just a rip off they seen me coming cuz I did not know anything about the boat so they took advantage of the situation the summer was ruined another boat has to go to another boat shop. Terrible business practices. So basically I paid over $1,000 for them to do nothing and say oh too bad for you that is not fair to the consumer.
