I contacted ***** at Terra Comp Technology regarding an Over The Air Antenna install on Oct 24th, 2022. I informed him we have a weak signal for two of our local stations and I was looking for a stable connection. He was made aware that we already have an omni-directional, quality antenna, but it was not positioned properly on the house. He was confident he could correct the problem and scheduled an appointment for Friday, Oct 28th. Upon arrival, he guaranteed a specific amount of channels. I told him I didn't want anything done unless he could guarantee me the four main local channels, 3.1, 5.1, 8.1 & ****. He said that would not be a problem & went on to say in his 28 years in business there was only one time he wasn't able to meet this goal. After positioning the new antenna, he came in and said "bad news, **** isn't coming in." I told him to cancel the job. He then asked me for an extension cable so he can test amplified with power. He came back in and said "great news, everything is green with a stable connection." He then ran the coax cable from the antenna to the office. While doing this, he ripped out my fiber internet connection and caused the internet to go down. When I asked him about it, he seemed frustrated and didn't want bothered, saying he didn't do anything (later **** came out and confirmed he ripped out the cable and we had to pay for a new line ran from outside of the home to the office). At this point he came in and demanded payment. I checked the channels and they weren't working. At this point he became violent & threatened to "rip everything out of my home." My wife and young children were in the home and I was fearful of what he might do. Under duress, I gave him my credit card to get him out of my home. He overcharged my card a ton with a total of $653.30 posted for a $59.99 ******* antenna and $10 worth of coax cable and an hour labor (he sat in his car most of the time he was here). I have filed a police report contacted my cc company.

      Business response

I would like to reply to the FICTIONAL story posted by ************************
On October the 24th *********************** contacted me about installing a new HD antenna system. I explained to him as I do to all my customers what was involved with the installation and all the equipment that I use.  **** gave me his home address and I ******d his location to see what type of mounting system could be used. All ****** had was just an overhead view of his house. I then called **** back and explained again what I was going to do to install his system and scheduled him for October 28th. Upon arriving at him home I found out that his house was 35 feet below the main street! He failed to tell me this! I set up my ladder and climbed near his roof peak. His home was at the level of the driveway for the next-door neighbor. I installed a j-pole mount on the roof then secured the antenna and aimed it at the correct compass heading. I then checked the stations with my Channel-Master Antenna meter. I found that not all of the stations would lock in. I then installed the pre-amp block on the j-pole mast and ran a free cable down to the deck. I installed the power adapter and plugged it into the electric. I metered the stations;all were lock in at a very good signal strength level. I then drill an entrance hole into the water closet in the basement took my cable there and very carefully ---because this closet was full of loose cables hanging everywhereran my cable to the outside. I then ran the cable up to the antenna and hook it along with weather boots to the pre-amp block.  I secured the cable down the upper story side of his home with grip clips used by myself, the cable company and direct **. This was explained and also approved by **** before any work was done! I ran the line behind his roof ridge vent on the lower part of his home down the roof line to the front and secured these with my grip clips. I then hid the cable in the corner edge of the siding made a drip loop and secured this also with grip clips. I then went down stairs and ran his antenna cable up into his office area. I hooked this up to his small ** and was able to lock in 71 ** channels. I went out to my truck and proceeded to write up his invoice. **** came out complaining about not being able to get channel **** that it was breaking up. I went back in and tuned the ** back to **** and showed him the channel 19 logo in the right corner of the screen. I went back to my truck and finished writing out the invoice. I went inside gave **** the total and he paid me with his credit card. I gave him his copy and left for home. After business hours **** left a message that I broke his fiber optic internet cable and that it cost him $99 for a service call to fix the problem and that he had tipped the man $20 more. He said I owed him not $99.00 not $119.00 but $120.00. I called my insurance company but they were closed at that time and would be closed Saturday and Sunday. Monday, I talked with my agent and he told me he would call me back Tuesday after he check my policy and coverage. Tuesday, he called me and told me I was covered. But before I could contact *********************** the ****** ****** Sheriff called me and told me **** had filed a Civil report with his office and claimed I threaten him and forced him to pay me. What a joke! Im 71 years old and **** must be around 40 years old I dont threaten people and he was not treated that way. If **** was afraid then all he had to do was lock his front door and call the Sheriff but he didnt because what he said is not true. If **** had waited that Tuesday,I would have called him to make arrangements with him after hearing from my insurance agent. Now at this point **** is on his own. This is not the way you treat people. I dont know if hes having issues at home but all that he has said is FICTION. Since he has banned me from making contact with him according to the Sheriff, I can no longer help him.  I wish him all the best and refuse his request for a Refund!

      Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
***** claims he was not aware that my street was ******************************************** my initial call and said that is why I was having a problem with an unstable connection to two local stations.  When he showed up, he said it would not be a problem. If he thought there was an issue why would he start the job? Before he started to run the coax cable line, he told me there was interference with stations. I told him I did not want any work done because this would not solve my problem.  He ran the extension cord I provided him, put power to the antenna & said everything had a strong signal.  30 minutes later he said the job was complete and he needed payment.  I told him I wanted to check the channels first and had to grab a small television that was not being used because he had broke our fiber internet cable during this process. When I showed him the 4 main channels were not functioning properly, he became violent, moved toward me swinging his hands and said "he would rip everything out of my home."  I filed a police report with the ****** ************************ report # ****-********* ***** did not let me know the price, did not give me anything to sign, simply swiped my card and left.  I was astounded to find he had charged me $653.30 for the work he performed.  The antenna he used is far less quality than the one I currently have and all 4 of my local stations have major interruptions while viewing the station.  I had to reconnect my old antenna as what he used is not working.  The antenna he used is a **** ** Antenna that sells at ******* for $59.99 and he used about $10 in material.  I have contacted other companies who provide similar service and let them know the job he preformed.  Each place has told me the service provided with parts and labor would be under $200 for the complete job, parts and labor. Either way, I shouldn't have had to pay anything as he was not able to rectify the situation and instead made it worse.  This man was in my home, made threats to rip apart and cause damage to my new siding, roof, etc.  He forced me to pay him by way of threat & fearing he may grab a weapon to assault my family or my property I instead gave him my card to get this person out of my home.  I never agreed to the amount I was charged and am a victim in this entire encounter.  This is not ok and I hope to stop this man and his company from doing this to someone else.  Please let me know if you need anything else from me.

We hired Terra Comp to repair our rooftop TV antenna, as two channels had weak signals which broke up and pixelated. Terra Comp spent four hours and did not successfully repair the antenna. He was extremely slow and charged us $323.00 for an unsuccessful installation. In face the signals became worse. This exorbortitant amount did not include the price of the antenna. Before ***** left, we pointed out to him that Channel 3 (NBC) had interference. He was tired and in a hurry and said that it was the fault of the TV station and that we should call them. Later we noticed that the signals were considerably worse on several of our main channels to the point of being unwatchable at times. We called and left ***** a message, but he has not called us back. We then disconnected the extra line that he had run to the basement and reinstalled the antenna as it had been initially, and bingo the signals improved..

Tell us In response to ****** ****** complaint:
On July the 27th I received a phone call from ****** *****. She was in a panic because her TV antenna system had stopped working. She told me she could not get any channels on her TV sets. I scheduled a service call for her on July 30th 2021.
Her claim that she only had two channels out is incorrect. Upon arriving I went on her roof and found that someone had used a cheap screw on connector which was broken and NOT CONNECTED TO HER ANTENNA!  I then checked the other end of her antenna line and found the same junk connector being used. Both were replaced with RG6 compression connectors.
I was not slow. **** ***** keep adding things she wanted done.
Try the old antenna mounted on top of her Spanish built antenna.
      Remove the old Antenna.
      Ground the outside splitter.
Check the line running to the rec room.
See if her Spanish made Drop amp would work.
Cut the tree limbs away from her existing Spanish made antenna.
Install the Spanish made drop amp in her basement.
I wanted to by pass her out door splitter and run the antenna directly to her TV and add her drop amp there but **** ***** wanted her whole house on the antenna system. I then ran a line into her basement, installed her Spanish build drop amp and connected it to the outside three-way splitter. I tune in 60 channels on her rec room TV and all of them came in fine. I wrote her bill for the service call, parts and labor with the sales tax and they paid with a visa card.
She was happy and no one complained about any channels.
I am closed Saturday and Sunday but I did call **** ***** and leave voice messages for her at 11:37AM and again at 2:25PM on Monday August the 2nd to make sure everything was working for her but she never called me back. These calls are on my business phone log.
If you had listened to me instead of telling me what to do, I could have reduced the time and material that was used at your home and saved you money. You wish to have an adjustment on your bill. But you have called your credit card company to get the bill taken off your charge. I will not comply with your request for free service.
