On January 27, 2023, BBB opened an investigation into Blacklick Used Equipment Sales LLC after receiving a call from a consumer who had wired $25,950 to Marino's Heavy Equipment LLC on January 23, 2023.
The consumer explained that he had been looking online for an 871 New Holland Skid Steer, and found one offered by Blacklick Used Equipment Sales LLC. He spoke with an individual who identified himself as the owner, Brent Conley, who directed him to wire the funds from his bank account.
The consumer has since filed a report with his local police as well as IC3, the internet Crime Complaint Center.
BBB called the Conleys and confirmed that they had shut down their business two years ago, but became aware of a website using their business name about two weeks ago. The owners of Blacklick Used Equipment Sales LLC have filed a report with the Franklin County Sheriff's department as well as IC3.
The imposter website and phone numbers are active as of 1.27.23.

Consumers who have paid money for equipment, should immediately request a swift transfer from their bank, file a report with their local police department as well as the Internet Crime Complaint Center at IC3.gov and BBB Scam Tracker.
On January 27, 2023, BBB opened an investigation after speaking with a consumer who wired $25,950.00 from their bank account to Marino's Heavy Equipment LLC after being directed to do so be an individual identifying himself as the owner of Blacklick Used Equipment Sales LLC.
The consumer is working with his bank and the FBI to recover the money.
The owners of the now defunct Blacklick Used Equipment Sales LLC have filed a report with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department and IC3.gov.
As of February 1, 2023, the website is still active. BBB called the phone number (614) 379-2059 and it was answered by an active voice mail indicating we had reached Blacklick Equipment.
BBB has written to the domain host requesting the site be taken down.
