I agreed to pay Ryan Bean $13,800 to excavate and lay concrete for a 30x32 building along with a 6x32 porch and 4 foot aprons along the front and back. After the excavation process and pole barn was built he agreed to lay right away when the weather was nice. He was constantly a no show or show up to work an hour then take the day off. Finally layed the concrete in the garage on Thurs Dec 15 he showed up to pour concrete. Was still working on prep when the concrete showed up. He refused help saying he could do it alone. Power trowel kept breaking. Left at 12:30 came back 5 hours later and covered it up. Knowing how horrible of a job he did - ( I still hadn’t seen it because he said it needed to stay covered for 10 days ) the next day he was supposed to lay the patio and aprons telling me the concrete was on will call for 10:30 and he never showed up - he said he needed time to recover It was going to get colder over the weekend and he knew this but still didn’t bother to show up when the weather was 50 degrees on Friday Monday he showed up saying he was responsible for laying it in the cold if it didn’t turn out - layed the patio and aprons ( Dec 19) it was 16 degrees out and I asked him several times if it would be ok. He said yes it will be fine and he was responsible for it if it didn’t - he left 2 hours after laying it. Didn’t come back until 6 that nite to cover it knowing he had done a horrible job ( but I cudnt see it in the dark and covered ) he banged on my door demanding final payment - I said I wanted to see it first. He called and tex and continued banging on my door until I gave him a check for 3 grand and he wanted the rest the next day. I still hadn’t seen it. He told me to keep it covered for 10 days or more - he never came back to check on it. On Jan 2 I uncovered it to find footprints in my patio concrete. Extra chunks of concrete laying in clumps embedded into the patio. Also was on front and back aprons. Didn’t even trowel the edges. The expansion joints around the posts looked horrible then walked into the garage to see he left globs of concrete untrowelled all around the posts in my door and huge dips in my garage floor. I demanded money back so I could have it redone but he made a million excuses how all concrete looks like this and it needed touched up and he wasn’t finished yet etc etc. said he could sprinkle magic spray on the concrete and how no floor is ever poured level. He was extremely arrogant and rude and refused to compensate me but his last tex has offered to redo only the patio however after the horrible work he did I don’t trust him to do anything else on this job. The concrete shudnt need touched up. Grinded down etc. it shudof been layed right the first time

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: He did NOT agree to fix anything until I threatened to take him to court and review this with the BBB - When I told him this work was unacceptable he told me that all concrete has flaws on the phone and then arrogantly said he would sprinkle the footprints he made in my concrete with “ magic spray “ he told me I need to get off the crazy train insisting all concrete has flaws - I went to his home and showed his wife pictures of he horrible job he did and she insisted that’s how all concrete jobs turn out and it was fine - after he knew I was serious in getting BBB involved and a lawyer he came out to my home to get his tarps and go over all the mess ups - and I have a 9 minute recording of him admitting his apologizes for his mess ups - shortcuts - footprints and Also his response when I flat out asked him - “ If this was your garage and patio furniture would you be ok with this mess ?? He replied plain and clear NO MAM!   He then tried to say it wasn’t finished a few days later and begged me to let him finish the job - he banged on my door and called me for over a half hour in the dark that nite saying it was finished and wanted paid and now says it’s not finished - I’m sorry but why would I trust him to come back and do more touch ups as he says - that will not fix the damage ! It needs torn out and redone by someone who cares about what they are doing and after all the pics I have sent in and how I was treated after why would I trust him to come back ! A 14000 concrete job SHOULD NOT NEED TOUCHUPS ! It shud be done right THE FIRST TIME ! After having several others look at it and estimates it’s been concluded the only way to make it look right is to tear it all out and re pour it which will cost more than what I paid Ryan Bean originally due to all the extra work and labor involved of tearing it out - getting rid of the mess and re pouring

      Sincerely,

Please get back to me ASAP.  I did respond to his response of saying I would not let him finish the job.  This guy took off with my money
He told me it was done. Turned out great but I needed to leave to leave the tarps on for 7-10 days.  On day 14 I pulled up the tarps due to him not coming back and this is the crap job I was left with.  It’s COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND POOR POOR WORKMANSHIP !  I need your help to get my money back. It’s gonna cost me 20 grand to tear it all out. Haul the messed up concrete away and relay this
