So far, so bad! My parents purchased crypt space in a mausoleum several years ago when they graciously did their end-of-life preplanning. While both my parents were born, raised, brought up a family and lived most of their lives in NEOhio, they retired to western ***** ********. My father recently and suddenly died at the ripe 'ol age of 88. With so many details to concern ourselves with, you can imagine the comfort we had knowing that he had preplanned his internment with Western Reserve Memorial Gardens.... Psyche!! Joke's on Us!!!! Adding insult to injury, when the crematorium respectfully sent his cremains to Western Reserve Memorial Gardens for interment, they disrespectfully sent them back with no regard to their treatment. The urn he was sent in was damaged beyond repair. When we called to find out what had happened, the person we spoke to was rude and lacking any compassion whatsoever. From what I could understand, there may be a fee that needed to be paid in advance. My parents had already paid for the mausoleum and crypt at the time they naively (so we know now) selected to be laid to rest at Western Reserve. I will be examining their contract in the upcoming days to check if other services were meant to be included. Beware as the website implies that by preplanning, you are locking in rates. You may believe that by doing this in advance, you are sparing your loved ones any hassle at the time of your death. DOn't kid yourself when it comes to Westen Reserve Memorial Gardens. If some mistake or misstep of process was made, fair enough. It would have been simple to explain that in gentle, caring terms. The family is still mourning the loss of my father. The representative we spoke to lacked any remnant of bedside manner, not even a drop of kindness, stating there was a demand of payment and nothing more would be done until the check was negotiated and cleared. And I won't even mention the exorbitant price he demanded to have someone make the effort to go out to the the mausoleum, enter it, open a crypt door, gently (oh wait, what am I saying? They obviously don't know "gentle") placing the urn in the crypt and closing the door again. Whether it is true that they will actually wait for the check to clear or not, saying so is particularly insensitive and crass. I couldn't be more disappointed in the treatment my parents have received thus far-- they have entrusted Western Reserve Memorial Gardens with the stewardship of their cremains, a responsibility that they clearly don't deserve. Both of my parents were and are amazing people who have done nothing but make the world a better place. Shame on Western Reserve Memorial Gardens for such horrible, insensitive treatment. And we've only just begun!!! It makes me absolutely sick to think we are going to have to deal with this organization for not only the remainder of my father's internment but my mother's as well, when her time comes. They are simply rotten, rotten, rotten! Find anywhere else for your loved ones.... ANYWHERE else would be better.
