Anytime Fitness in Chesterland, advertised a TOTALLY free fall shape up for seniors over 60, metTom the Manager on 9/11, he asked about my goals, said he had a program for $40 a WEEK, I asked about the free, he said $40 was for a trainer, He took out a form for me, I filled out my name, address & phone number, he asked 4 my financial information” I didn’t give that info,I asked about the FREE workout he said it was $600, I said how is that free? he said “you can use of the gym”,feeling pressure I said I was going to take the form to show to my son, his response was “You wasted my time? GET YOUR *** *** OUT OF MY OFFICE” I said “What” he said “you heard me Get your *** *** out of here” he walked out, I was crying a worker came in to comfort me, he came in told her to leave, he said he called the cops, I asked for his boss, he threw a card at me using his body to shove me out of his office, I was scared and said don’t touch me, he told me there was cameras I told him I was happy to hear that, he yelled at me in the gym full of people working out, I went outside the cop came spoke with Tom, who said I was causing disturbance,I asked the cop if he spoke to the 2 witnesses he said no, I was told to file a report, and get a copy of the video, I was told that there is no video inside the office where it took place,I spoke to Tom’s boss, he said Tom ADMITTED he was out of line, and had to take some class, which I think is BS, had Tom been white, and I black, and he said what he said to me, it would’ve been all over the news, Tom would’ve lost his job, I asked for help and the MANAGER made me feel worse, they offered a free membership at the Newbury gym, and said Tom was sending a apology, and they would let me know what was done to make sure this won’t happen again, spoke to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney Generals office about Bait & Switch & High Pressure Sales Tactics which is a violation of the Ohio consumer sales practice act,, ********* *****

Wouldn’t let me cancel a membership plan that I hadn’t even started. I texted Tommy on 9/25 informing him that I needed to cancel our membership plan. He said I couldn’t do it over the phone. We agreed to meet at the fitness center at 5pm on 9/25. When I arrived, Tommy said he couldn’t cancel my plan. I asked for the manager. He called Travis. He refused to cancel the plan. Asked me if I read the contract. Told him I never received it. I was charged for training sessions that weren’t even started. Signed up for personal training on 9/20/24. Was charged in advance for the first sessions on 9/20. Session for me was scheduled for 9/28. My husband’s session wasn’t even scheduled. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company and put a stop on any future attempted charges.

Wouldn't allow me to cancel my membership after they removed the service I was paying for. After several requests to cancel membership, disputing charges they had put on my credit card, being over-billed several months in a row, hours on the phone with my credit card company, and ultimately needing to cancel my credit card (having a new one issued), and blocking them from billing me again, my membership was canceled. It was canceled with the threat of my account being sent to collections, although I had a zero balance with Anytime. When I asked for my credit card to be removed from their system I was told that the general manager of the Chesterland location did not have the ability to do that.
