I have a Creditor by the name ******* ******* ******** on my Credit report stating I owe A debt ($192)from "Gutter Boys" in Cincinnati, ohio at the address of **** ******** ***. I DO NOT KNOW THAT ADDRESS OR ANYONE LIVING THERE, NEVER BEEN THERE. I HAVE NEVER DELT WITH GUTTER BOYS. THIS IS NOT MY DEBT

This is the first time we have heard about this from *******, so we quickly inquired to our Collection Agency (******* ******* ********) to see if they had the wrong ******* Allen. We thought it could be a possibility since this ******* Allen's email and phone number were different from what we had in our system. After a few emails back and forth, this is the final response from Fairway:

"We are sure this is not the same *******.  SS# that was found by our skip trace vendor belongs to ******* M Allen in Lancaster, not ******* M Allen in Cincinnati.  We issued a deletion request to the credit bureau for ******* Allen in Lancaster.
We will close this account, and no fee would be charged."

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused by the ******* M Allen that filed this BBB complaint. This is the first time in 10 years of working with collection agencies that this has happened to us.

Again, we are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you, *******. Your credit should go back to what it is supposed to be as soon as the deletion request goes through. If you do not see the proper action take place in the next week, please call our office at 513-490-9382.

      Sincerely,

The Owners of Cincy Gutter Boys

This company installed new gutters 18 months ago. In the quote they were to inspect and replace fascia board at approximately $10 per linear foot and install new gutters. At no point did any worker or manager say we needed new fascia board and new gutters were installed. Fast forward to approximately 2 months ago, a large section of gutters were ripping off from the house and causing water to drain into our foundation. I called the company out to inspect. They sent someone out and diagnosed that the fascia board which is holding the gutter was rotted and the screws weren’t doing anything. He provided a quote which was more than what we paid for them to replace an entire house worth of gutters to just replace facia board on one side of the house. I tried on a few attempts to reach someone in charge and it wasn’t till several days later did someone call, just to tell me the cost was the cost. I explained I had no problem paying for materials but he was charging me labor for a problem they did not address when they installed the gutters. I also based on research believe they did not create enough pitch or enough downspouts causing pooling in the weakened gutter section additionally attributing to rot

      To whom it may concern,
On June 15th, 2020 our company provided a quote to **** * to replace the gutters and downspouts on his home, as well as to perform a small fascia board replacement of approximately 6 feet on the inside corner of the garage. The quote was approved on 6/15/2020 and work was completed on 8/27/2020. The quote specifically stated that we would replace the 6 feet of fascia that was originally quoted and if our technicians did uncover any further damage to the fascia during the gutter installation, we would consult the customer and quote for any additional work. While performing the installation of the gutters, our technicians did not discover any further fascia that needed to be replaced. All of the fascia on Mr. ********** home was properly wrapped in fascia metal. It is not our protocol to remove all fascia metal to inspect it before installing gutters, but if we do notice anything of concern or if there are soft spots where the anchors are not holding properly, then we will replace those sections if needed and approved by the customer. **** ******** called our office on 4/5/2022 complaining that a gutter was falling off on the back left side of the home. After receiving this call from Mr. ******** we sent out one of our repair technicians for a follow up appointment on 4/6/2022. While out at the home, our repair technician noted that additional work had been performed on the gutters by another company since our installation on 8/27/2020 and gutter guards were installed. Upon further inspection, it did look like there was more fascia rotted on the home, but due to the fact that work was performed by another company and guards were installed after we installed the gutters, that does void our workmanship warranty since we are unable to tell if the additional rotted fascia is due to the additional work performed or the guards being installed which can cause water to overflow and increase the chances that the wood would rot. After inspecting the gutters, our technician did conclude that the gutters were installed properly during the initial appointment. We provided a quote to Mr. ******** for the replacement of the fascia board if he was interested in moving forward with our company completing the additional repairs.

      ****** ******** *******

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ** ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

At this point I am still baffled that this company is stating that they replaced "6 feet of fascia board" that they say was the only area that was discussed. The 6 feet that was discussed initially WAS NEVER REPLACED!!  It is clear in one of the images that I submitted.  I can't take a response seriously when they state that their technicians did not find any rot when they did not even replace what they're trying to argue they replaced.  Again I am willing to move forward but the deduction of $655 is offensive and not realistic.  The original estimate called for $10 per linear foot, which is clear even at the time had a built in mark up cost in it.  The most expensive fascia board I have researched is $65.00 for 12 foot which I imagine is not being used.  So at best thats $500 in the most expensive materials!  There discounted estimate is $2112.50, which is $1612 difference.  They did not accurately complete a job and I am not paying double the labor to have them come back out.  If they truly want to move forward, they'll come back with a more reasonable estimate to complete the work they did not do and what that cost is for materials to do so. I tried to support a smaller business and at this point I feel taken advantage of.   I am willing to pay $1200.00 and not a penny more.  This is to account for inflation, fuel and increased materials costs which I feel is more than generous despite the work/issues not being done or checked and to be clear, that is including the "6 feet" they never replaced and the entire back of house 80 plus feet.

      Regards,

      **** ********

      Hello *****

Our technician reviewed the work that was performed during the initial repair job and found that the work was completed correctly. As stated previously, we provided two quotes for the additional work. In order to replace the all of the fascia on the back of the home, the discounted estimate we provided was for $2112.50. We discounted the estimate by taking off the charges in regards to removing the gutters and reinstalling them, but in order to replace the fascia there is additional work that will need to be completed including wrapping the fascia, as well as the soffit will need to be reinstalled since it will come down once the fascia is removed. The discount price of $2112.50 is the lowest estimate we are willing to provide at this time.

We reached out to Cincy ****** boys for a "Leaking ******". Our ******* already have a guard. ******** came in to check on June 8, and quoted the need for ****** cleaning & flushing. We did not climb up and check the ******* to see what was needed. We trusted ********'s diagnosis & approved the work. On July 9, the ****** cleaning was done, but the problem of leaking still continued. The ****** cleaning contractor said that it needs a caulking sealant to stop the leak. The cleaning was not really needed. I then had to request them to get the sealant work done. This was done Aug 10, and I paid for the sealant work right away. I explained to Cincy ****** boys multiple times that the initial ****** cleaning work was not really required and the initial diagnosis of the problem was wrong. I shouldn't be made to pay for something that was not needed. The problem I called them for was the "leaking ******". I am still getting invoices for the cleaning work with threats that they would turn it over to collections. This is just bullying.

      To whom it may concern,

On 6/7/2021 ****** ***** called in to request an appointment with a repair consultant in order to diagnose an issue with their gutter seams leaking and gutters overflowing at **** ******* **** *** ********** ** *****. The consultation estimate was scheduled for 6/8/2021. When our consultant Caroline went out to the home, she diagnosed that the issue was that the gutters and downspouts needed to be cleaned, as well as the seams of the gutters did need to be sealed. Due to the wide range of work we do, we have a cleaning division and a construction division. Therefore Caroline sent out two estimates to the customer, one for the gutter cleaning and one for sealing the seams. The customer was informed that both services would need to be performed in order to solve their issues, but that we could get the cleaning portion scheduled within a few weeks, while our construction division is generally 8-12 weeks out on work. The cleaning portion was quoted for $230.69 and the sealing of the seams was quoted for $350. Regardless of whether the services were done at the same time or separately, the price would have remained the same. In addition, you cannot have seam sealing performed if the gutters have not been cleaned recently which is why the consultant quoted for both services. Both estimates were approved by the customer and work was performed as contracted. The customer called in after work was completed and believed that they should not have to pay for the cleaning. As stated above, that is necessary work that must be performed before sealing seams and it is a service the customer approved and agreed to pay for. Our office called the customer to remind them of the bill on 8/18/2021, 9/23/2021, and 10/6/2021. They were also sent a final invoice and letter by mail on 10/18/2021 stating that if the invoice was not paid soon, the invoice would be forwarded to a collections agency. On 11/8/2021 we made one final attempt to collect payment and our customer service representative spoke to ****** ***** and stated that since the work was approved and completed based on the original agreement, we would not be able to zero out the invoice. The customer stated that they were refusing to pay the bill, so the account was sent to our collections agency, ******* ******* ********. Once an account has been sent to collections, we do not make any further attempts to collect payment from our main office as everything is done within the collections agency.

The response from Cincy Gutter Boys says “the consultant Caroline diagnosed that the issue was that the gutters and downspouts needed to be cleaned, as well as the seams of the gutters did need to be sealed”. This is entirely false. She sent only one estimate for the cleaning on 6/8/21 (see attached June estimate). When the cleaning contractors arrived. They found that the cleaning was not required as the problem of leaking was from an area that needed a sealant. It was then that we contacted Caroline & Cincy gutter boys again informing about their wrong diagnosis. They then scheduled a sealant job to rectify the issue (see attached July estimate). The second estimate was for sealant work which was all that was needed.

As stated in our original reply, a gutter cleaning is a required service when any seams in the gutters are needing to be sealed. Looking into this case further, it does look like our consultant edited the original estimate and sent out an additional quote in July for $350 for sealing of the seams. Had the gutter cleaning not already been completed by our company a few weeks prior, this estimate would have had to include an additional line item and charge for gutter cleaning and sealing of the seams. It is ineffective to seal any seams in a gutter if there is debris as the sealant will not adhere properly. Since the gutter cleaning was indeed already completed, we did not see reason to charge ****** ***** for a second cleaning just a few weeks later when the sealing of the seams was being completed. Overall both estimates were approved by the customer, all work was required to be performed in order to fix the issue, and all prices and services were agreed upon on the front end, therefore the balance unpaid is still valid.

The business is being untruthful again. They say “Looking into this case further, it does look like our consultant edited the original estimate and sent out an additional quote in July for $350 for sealing of the seams.” As mentioned in my earlier response, this was not the case. The 2nd estimate for $350 was made only after I pointed out their error in diagnosis. Even the contractor who came in for the cleaning said I didn’t need the cleaning.
