Joseph Chevrolet posted a vehicle on both auto trader and their own website. I contacted Joseph Chevrolet to purchase the vehicle. I was sent a text from the company telling me that the vehicle was in stock and available. I had a conversation online with someone who was trying to get me to come in and test drive it. When we called within the hour to put a deposit on the vehicle we were then told that the car was being moved to their “rental department.” And was not for sale anymore. I checked their website again today and it is still listed for sale over 24 hours later. I called the dealership again to see if they gave me the same story. The salesman spoke to me about the vehicle UNTIL I mentioned it that I had seen the listing for the car, then he had to put me on hold to speak with a manager and then he got back on the phone to inform me that it was “unavailable.” They are advertising a product that they do not have or that they do not want to sell. The definition of false advertising. They are attempting to bait and switch customers just to get them in the door.Business response

The vehicle that you were interested in was recently put into our rental department that day. So when the salesman sent you a text on that day, he was unaware of it. Here at our dealership we try to be as upfront and honest with our customers as we possibly can. Which is why both times we received your call we gave the same story because we didn't want you to come in to see the vehicle that you wanted and it wasn't available. As for the ad, our system can take anywhere from 24-48 hours to update the availability of our inventory. We've also reached out to you several times to try an resolve the issue, as well as to let you know about other vehicles in our inventory but we couldn't reach you. Our goal is to give our customers a great car buying experience while selling them the vehicle of their dreams. I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you and we look forward to earning your business in the future.
