Based on service work done on June 9, 2023 I would recommend people see another Toyota dealership for service work based on excessive charges for work performed. Based on the length of time they had my car, they charged me at an equivalent rate of $246 per hour. That is not normal, I strongly urge others to seek services elsewhere. Follow up:Joseph Toyota has responded to at least one of my reviews criticizing them for charging $2246.84 to replace the front and rear brake pads and rotors, along with the rear shock absorbers(a $119.64 set). Any mechanics out there reading this will be laughing at my expense and I probably deserve it. Interestingly, Joseph Toyotas response to my complaint of being charged $1400 for the labor portion of this repair, was simply that I authorized the work; so being overcharged at least $600 relative to all industry standard pricing for this job was my fault for not shopping around for a better price before letting them do it. Cant argue with that. In the 40 some years I have owned Toyota cars and had plenty of dealer service work done, I have never been charged more than a couple of hundred dollars over private shop rates for the same jobs, and I accept that difference as a choice to support them and get Toyota brand parts. An automobile dealer can choose to create profits by charging fair prices for quality parts and services which then creates return business for them through satisfied customers. A dealer can also take advantage of people who dont know or care about normal pricing for services and in essence take a suckers money, thereby needing fewer customers for the same level of profits. That appears to be the Joseph Toyota way. Of course, as an ordinary consumer, being taken advantage of can happen to anyone and thats a normal part of life. But please help friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers who own Toyotas and live in the Cincinnati area avoid being overcharged (ripped off?) by Joseph Toyota

I am sorry you do not understand how the pricing works. We use the same price guide as other Toyota dealers and most shops in general. Every mechanical job has a labor time standard. Some mechanics may be able to do the job quicker than that standard and some take longer. Either way the charge is the same. If a shop uses 2 mechanics to get the job done quicker you do not pay for 2 mechanics you pay the labor time standard. How long a shop has your car versus the hours charge rarely matches up. No different than appliance repair, HVAC, or plumbing contractors. We use 2 technicians for almost every oil change and tire rotation in the interest of customer time waiting. We do not charge for 2 technicians. You had every right to turn down our estimate and go somewhere else. We did what we said for the dollar amount we said. I think that is as fair and honest as we can be.

When making a car purchase as a woman, the biggest fear is that we will be taken advantage of or talked down to. I experienced both at this dealership from the salesman, trade in assessor and manager. The salesman offered me 9K for my trade in stating "it's definitely worth that but if you think it's worth more bring it here and we can go up from there". Once I got there, the offer went down to 7K. I was then mansplained all the reasons why my car wasn't worth any more. I explained that my offer was 9K and that this process was completely misrepresented and I feel that the salesman said what he needed to say to get me to make the 45 minute drive to the dealership. It was never disclosed that my offer could decrease, had I known that, I never would have taken the afternoon off from work to drive there! I asked to speak to the manager several times and he ended up coming over and he escorted me out to the parking log before he would speak to me, insulting. I explained that I very much felt that the process was the ultimate example of the "old school" manipulative shady sales man. He shrugged and said he didn't think we should come to an agreement, so I left. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone and I would not trust anything they say.

We bought our lease outright from them. I obtained the financing details from a local credit union. When we asked them to run it through the credit union, Joseph came back with a MUCH higher payment--and they were requesting a down payment. I told them we had a different quote (with no down payment) which was $50 less a month than what they were telling me. ****, the finance guy didnt care. He made no effort to contact the credit union to work out the discrepancy. **** thought perhaps I was asking for less than payoff, when in fact I gave a higher amount to the credit union. We have excellent credit, so our rate and payment would actually be lower than what was quoted. The credit union doesnt handle the buyouts directly, so they couldnt contact Joseph Toyota and Joseph wouldnt call them. We dealt with this for 17 days. Finally, when we said we would look into other dealerships, they were able to "Make something work" with another bank; however they still required the down payment. When I arrived to sign the paperwork, **** asked me if I was":the one with the money". Not a hi, hello, anything. Just about the money. I was told they would be taking my plates and I needed to purchase new ones. In Indiana, we pay based on the value of the car--so I'd just paid $306 in March. I told **** I didnt think that sounded right; but he took them anyway and said "oh, no" when I told him I'd just purchased the plates and would need to fork out another $300. Immediately after leaving Toyota, I went to the *** (as some of the paperwork had misspellings on it) and that lady informed me the plates were indeed mine to keep and i needed to get them back--or I would in fact need to purchase new plates. Thankfully, we could get the plates before they were destroyed, I reached out to the dealership and they offered me 2 oil changes (My other cars are serviced at their own dealerships)--no where near the additional $2000 they cost me for no reason other than not wanting to do their job. Please, do not go in there an expect to be treated well or receive any type of satisfactory resolution. If they would have picked up the phone and called the credit union, we could have saved $2000. But hey, I can get $80 in oil changes to make up for it.
