I could not even begin to give this company a one star review and wouldn't have if it weren't necessary to submit the review. We entered into contract with this company for a stamped concrete patio after working with Michael B. Michael provided us with a very well done virtual presentation of what our patio would look like. When we went in to choose the color for the patio, Michael told us there were no real samples to look at and that we just needed to choose from a brochure. We chose from the brochure and took a picture of it to make sure we remembered what it was supposed to look like. On multiple occasions, they confirmed they could meet the color requirements. After the project was "complete", the company came out to collect their final payment. The owner said the project was satisfactory. It is completely unacceptable. The only acceptable part is the pergola they built from another vendor. The concrete is blotchy. It looks like someone sprayed acid on it. There is no color in the concrete. In addition, they built steps out of decking material (Trex type material) with the underside showing) and left the edges undone since we were completely unhappy with how the concrete turned out. I would not use this company for stamped concrete. I have pictures of the horrible job they did. They do not stand behind their work. Their only attempt at trying to remedy the situation is to send some random person out to the house with no notice to look at the job to see what could be done. No contact after we didn't agree to let this random person into our backyard. We are completely embarrassed to have anyone look at our patio, and we are left trying to figure out how we can make it look halfway decent without tearing out the entire patio which would cost us a pretty penny.Review from Joe B.

Contacted them for an estimate on replacing an aging deck with a covered deck and wood burning fireplace. The owner came out to the house and we discussed ideas for about an hour. Whenever she had a chance during our conversation she complained about how difficult it was to build in ******** County. I've seen their work before because they recently built a deck for a family member; the quality is good enough. She left with an expectation of when we would receive a quote. Seeing that it was the middle of December we didn't expect an estimate until after the new year. It is now January 20th and we do not have a quote. Even after several phone calls and a couple text messages we have yet to hear from them. I am very disappointed in their professionalism and extremely lack of anything resembling customer service.Oddly enough I was speaking with a colleague at work about this a few weeks ago and he mentioned how his parents accepted a bid from Building Character Cincy last year via email. Over a month went by before any they received any response from the company. The male co-owner finally contacted them and said the bid would need to be recalculated because lumber prices had risen. One can only surmise they pick and choose which jobs they want all while leaving potential customers with dashed hopes

Hello, Yes I do remember coming to your home for project and unfortunately, we were not interested in your project because you wanted us to do some of the work and then you wanted to do some of the work yourself, then us come back to touch up and we just won't do that. Yes, I did email you to let you know this so my apologies if you never received that email. (check spam we go there a lot.) Every company out here can pick who they want to do business with so we should not be judged on that. And yes, ******** County is the hardest county to work in that's just facts, but we do it all the time. Most of this review is here say leaving us a bad review on what other people supposedly said because I have no idea who your specking of, I can't even comment on that because it's not even your project. Hope you find a contractor willing to piece out your project and good luck. ~Jennifer

********, thanks for taking the time to respond. You are correct that we proposed the idea of working cooperatively on this project; however, we also requested a quote from your company to do all the work. For the record, there was no email received by us in any folder, including the junk folder, hence the reason for texting you and leaving a voicemail message asking if you would be done with the quote soon.I take offense to you claiming that what I wrote above from a previously lost customer was hearsay. I read the entire email thread between you and the customer, and your habit of ignoring them was completely unprofessional. (And then you did the same to me 9 months later. Actually, you "ghosted" me entirely as they say.) You sent the bid email to ****** on March 29, 2021, with the proposed deck design. I would post the proposal number but there was none. Shortly after, you received a response accepting your bid from ***. There was also a question in that email about the usable square footage of your deck design which you never answered. Your company went dark on them and several weeks went by before the customer had to folllow up with you on scheduling the work. That's when ***** finally replied about redoing the bid.I think we are done with this conversation and hope that others who reach out to you for outdoor living projects are treated more fairly and with more respect than I have witnessed you doing.Thank you, ******** and good luck to you ma'am.
