Deer Park Roofing was supposed to replace my roof yesterday, 2/5. I came to check it out today and there are air bubbles all in the brand new rubber roof. They also put on white fl***ing when it was supposed to be black. I cannot get a callback from the operations manager, **** C**, or the adjuster, Ben M*****. They are also now refusing to do the remainder of the job (siding on the house). The roof was $12,435 with wrong pieces, wrong colors and terrible air bubbles.

We have resolved the concerns regarding the fl***ing and explained the reason behind the bubbles. My superintendent was on site the next morning after receiving the complaints from customer to address all of his concerns. I am the Vice President of the company and have left the homeowner a message to discuss further. The signed contract we have with the homeowner has been completed, additional work was bid while on site but never signed into an official contract, we are declining any further work with this homeowner.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

The response is full of false statements and my complaint has not been resolved. There are still air bubbles showing on the roof which have not been addressed. No superintendent has come to the house since I reported the issues. One worker came by and painted the white fl***ing black instead of replacing it with the contracted black color fl***ing. Further, Matt C** did call me this morning and he was extremely rude, cursing at me, and threatening me.

      Regards,

      ******* *****

I had two 2 problem spots with my gutters where I was getting overflow and water in my basement. I worked with the salesman and agreed to a plan for all new gutters. The one spot was a simple change in how the gutters connected; they fixed that. The other spot I had been using a rain barrel in place of clogged underground pipes. The barrel fills/overflows very quickly with anything more than a drizzle. The salesman and I worked out a plan to divert water away from the house using an angled piece that would direct water to my lower yard. I would continue to get quotes to fix the underground pipes and have Deer Park connect the gutter when able. The salesman even sent me photos of the type of piece he recommended I use in the meantime. At install they connected the gutters to the failed rain barrel. When I called them they refused to fix it, refused to help, refused to help me find any resolution. They claimed they were worried about a system that would get water in my foundation and talked me in circles when I told them that that was exactly what they had installed. They installed the system I hired them to undo so well that I will have to pay another contractor to come help me undo it. I continue to get water in my basement and I have stopped hearing back from Deer Park.

We have been trying to get a response regarding a warranty issue on our shingles since June 2022. The shingles were installed 10-30-2020. This June we noticed a uniform waviness to the shingles, looking like nails popping up on all sides of our roof. Numerous calls to the office were made with promises of returned calls from the appropriate person. Eventually we received an email from Mike Z********, director of operations on June 14th. Calling his direct line resulted in messages left and no return calls or texts. Efforts to communicate by email go unanswered. Calls to the office confirmed that our roof had already been inspected and we should expect a call from a crew regarding a time for repairs. Eventually in early August I made a call first thing on a Monday hoping to reach Mr. Z******** and I did. We set up a time for him to come and inspect the roof. He was out within a day or two and verbally confirmed that the problem was with the ice guard buckling causing the shingles to buckle. A promise to receive information regarding a repair date was given. After a few weeks calls to his phone went immediately to voicemail so I called the office. There was no news of our house being scheduled for repairs and a promise for the appropriate person to call back was given. We still have heard nothing, have no written agreement to repair our shingles and we are at a loss how to contact these people. We are retired people, they have our home number, cell number and email address not to mention sending a letter.

      *** ********,

We apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. There were internal communication issues that we have since recognized and resolved. Since we were notified of the issue, we have sent a repair crew to complete the necessary repairs and resolved the issue with the wrinkles in the ice and water shield.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

For future customers. Communication is still an issue with Deer Park Roofing. The two-man repair crew showed up to repair the roof. Unfortunately, the scope of the job, removing all shingles from the lower six feet of roof was not communicated to the crew. This did not rattle the craftsmen who were tasked with the job. An additional employee was necessary to deliver additional shingles to complete the job. The careful removal of the existing shingles and repairs to the lumpy ice guard took all day. Since there was no rain in the forecast the crew elected to return the next day rather than hurry to complete what would take an additional five (5) hours the next day. Photos of the problem areas and updates were provided by the crew leader during the job, and we knew he had our best interests in mind.

We were told two other customers repair work had to be pushed out due to the time it took to do our job correctly. Poor communication was the reason for these customer's inconvenience.

To conclude, should someone consider Deer Park Roofing to replace their roof shingles? Absolutely. The sales crew did an excellent job. The initial removal and replacement of our shingles was completed in a single day. They came when they said they would, the initial crew made adjustments to the process once underway, and the roof looked great for the first few years. They cover their installation for five years, then the shingle manufacturer covers the remainder. Once we got a response and date for repairs, (4 months) our repairs were done professionally, and the yard was clean and tidy when finished.

      Sincerely,

      ******* ********
