We paid $3240 to McMahans Wrecking on 8/31/23 to replace an engine on a 2014 *******. ***, the manager, when we were picking it up advised me we needed to replace the "flex line" on the exhaust. Now worries. However the vehicle was leaking anti-freeze, had to leave it there and picked it up the following day. From McMahans, I went to a gas station filled up, reset trip meter, and went over to Bubbas muffler shop. Paid $140 for "flexline". Bubba wanted to know what we hit because we have an cracked exhaust manifold. Exactly 50 miles on the trip meter, the car throws a code for the exhaust. We bought this car originally for a gas saver/second vehicle. Drove it roughly 1000 miles with a check engine light. Those codes were a compression problem, timing chain issue that apparently is common on the ***** **** ******** McMahans towed it from my house, said it would be done in a week, I called in that time, they hadn't even pulled it in the shop yet. They took it in the shop, the tech that worked on it said he had to cut off the exhaust because it was as he stated, ran all funky. They never contacted me before hand. They didn't even try to put it back together. I buffered the cost of that, now it's throwing a code for the exhaust Went back, they took our info, and *** sa8d he spoke to the owner. And basically we are screwed. I've attached files showing just some of the loose bolts they didn't tighten. Also, i.took it to ***** locally and there are still screw missing. They treated me as if I was a nuisance and their tech, Scott actually with his threatening manner told me he had to cut off the exhaust to make it work. It wasn't cracked, broken, and the vehicle before this replaced engine wasn't throwing any other codes other than the timing chain. Look, I'm a 53 yr old medically retired veteran just trying to get my.ole lady to her cancer appointments. Odk how this works but they know they did us dirty. At minimum I would like the OWNER to contact us and explain.Business response

RECEIVED VIA EMAIL BY BBB STAFF MEMBER:
Good Afternoon,
My name is *** ******* I am the owner of McMahan's Wrecking. In regards to complaint ******** the exhaust is completely different from the repair work that the vehicle was brought in for which was to replace a motor. My company does not fix exhaust on any vehicle which was what we told the customer. If there was any problem with the work that we completed we would have fixed. I'm sorry that they feel like we are wrong but I do not see how the vehicle having an exhaust issue makes us a bad business. If you have any further questions you can contact me at ************
Thanks,
*** *******
