Whatever you do, don't ask questions. "D" provided me a driveway replacement quote, but only as a number on the back of a business card. He said if we go with a contract, then they'd detail it out then. After trying to compare several quotes, I emailed "D" to get a fully documented quote so I could compare things like thickness of concrete, if edges would be backfilled and seeded, etc. "D" complained a lot (in the return email) but eventually provided me a picture of a hand drawn quote with notes. I emailed him back with a question on the base materials used. His response came across as very annoyed. He basically said go look at pics on YouTube and never answered my question. I emailed back that I might have misinterpreted his quote comments. I initially thought it meant "A" but I could also interpret it as "B" and I asked if "B" was the correct interpretation. His reply was very unexpected. What I got back was a very terse email stating that he thought it best we cut this business relationship here and not talk again. What I found amazing was that he was willing to blow off approx $20K worth of business because he was too annoyed by a question to simply answer it. And he spent a lot more time on the annoyed response than he could've, had he simply answered the original question. And the question: Was he reusing the existing old driveway base and if he needed additional, was that extra cost of additional crushed stone covered in the proposal? I can't tell you if they do a good job, but I can tell you they're terrible at pre-sales. And think twice before you ask a question.

Thanks for the review “Dee.” We are very selective to the people we do work for. It’s our business decision to take on customers work or deny doing a job as well. Writing a price on the back of a business card is not far fetched. Prices are given in many forms. On a piece of paper, a business card, over a phone conversation or a hand shake. Sharkey&Son Construction only takes on work with people we are comfortable assuring that both parties would be on the same page even after all work is performed. We didn’t feel like it would work out even during the brief conversation over job proposal. With that being said, Have a great day!
