I needed an appointment with a dentist. My dental insurance is with MetLife Dental. I went to their website and identified DentalWorks, in Mayfield Hts Ohio, as in their network. I schedule an appointment for August 29, 2022. I was seen and was given a treatment plan based on what was needed and my insurance coverage. The treatment plan totaled $106 for the initial visit (100% covered by insurance) plus payment for immediate dentures of $1538, a second visit for surgery which totaled $2490 (60% covered by insurance equaling $1275.75 and my portion equaling $1214.25), and a final visit which I canceled due to the situation I am explaining now would have totaled $2086. The office financial representative at DentalWorks went over the amounts and highlight my portion of the treatment plan that I was responsible for paying. I signed the treatment plan and paid the amount required during my first visit of $1538. I had to come back the following day for a bite registration, at which time I pointed out that there were two extractions listed on the treatment plan which were removed years ago. I was given the revised treatment plan now totaling $2342 (insurance paying $1186.95 and my amount of $1155.05) due for my second visit. Because this visit was for surgery, I was told I needed a down payment of $250 to schedule surgery which I paid. On Sept 28 (day of surgery) I paid $1204.55 (includes $49.50 consultation fee portion). Over two weeks after surgery I received a statement in the mail dated 10/17/22 for $820.45 which included an entry called "Insurance Adjustment Increase of $1456. I asked DentalWorks about this, I was told my insurance paid more than my treatment plan therefore I owe more. My insurance paid $1839 instead of $1186 (which would have be 60% of the treatment plan). I don't think that my treatment plan amount for completed surgery, should be increased 2 weeks after completion. MetLife's Fee Lookup website showed the same amounts as my treatment plan.

Back in May I was getting a tooth extration and was quoted a price for the procedure of how much I would be responsible for paying and how much was covered by insurance. I went through with the procedure and payed what I owed. In September Dentalworks sends me a bill for nearly $600 saying that my ensurance didn't cover the rest. I called my insurance company and told them of the situation. They explained to me that the procedure I got was covered, but not by the specialist that Dentalworks had perform the procedure on me. I was not informed that I was being operated on by a non Dentalworks employee. That was their mistake, and I should not have to pay for it. I paid the price I was told and now they are forcing me to pay more.
