My grass wasn't growing April of this year they came out twice to service my yard I told them not to come out because I canceled service with best greening they applied service anyway then build me for $81 when I told them I'm not paying them for something I didn't ask for they sent it to collections I told them why would they do that we never had a contract

We appreciated your business very much and are sorry you did not want to continue service this year. However, we did not receive a cancellation notice until you called the office on June 28th, after two fertilizing applications were already completed. We reviewed all of our documented call records and we never received a phone call to cancel prior to June 28th, 2023.

The two applications were applied on 3/22/2023 and 5/8/2023. On those days, we left paperwork and a flag alerting that we were there. We did not receive a phone call before or after these applications were applied, otherwise we could have cancelled service immediately. In addition, we called and left several voicemails after these applications were completed. As is customary with all our customers, we make a courtesy reminder call after 30 days of a balance past due. All calls are documented, and these were made on 04/28/2023 at 3:40PM,  06/06/2023 at 3:03PM, 06/22/2023 at 11:20AM and 06/27/2023 at 3:30PM.

These calls were not answered or returned until 06/28/2023 and at that time you had stated to cancel the service. This was our first documented phone call regarding the cancellation, in which the account was cancelled at that time. At that time, we were told you had cancelled previously, but after thoroughly reviewing all calls and correspondence, there is nothing to support that this occurred. The outstanding balance is for the two applications that were done this spring, and the account has been cancelled at this time and no further services will be provided per your request.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] they are lie I called them plus we didn’t have anything in writing but anyway I called them I told them I was not pleased with the service and do not come back out. I still have weed growing in my yard they came out anyway the problem is if they have 500 customers and 100  customers cancel the contract but they keep coming out and charging them $40 and each one of the customers pay will that’s 4,000 thousand dollars a year extra they made and that’s bas business and I’m not paying them $81 for something I  ask them to stop coming out but the company is a fraud they know I ask them not to once again I don’t own them $81

      Regards,

      ****** *******

We are sorry that you feel this way. Our company keeps documented records with dates and time stamps of all phone calls, and have done so for many years. We have the ability to pull internal phone records and recordings. We looked through our phone records for the cancellation phone call and there was no such call made until June 28, 2023. We would also like to make mention that Mr. ******* is unable to show proof of the cancellation phone call prior to the one we received on June 28th.

I inquired about Best Greening Services in December 2021. They sent a breakdown of the services I expressed interest in. When I called, they raised the prices above what was quoted. I said that I MAY be interested in reduced services, & would call at a later date to confirm. I NEVER confirmed the service. They came out to my house anyway in March, treated my lawn & billed me. I am refusing to pay because I NEVER confirmed that I wanted the service. It has become harassment now. Just because I inquired, did not mean I wanted to go ahead. In reading another complaint, it appears to be a common practice. I appreciate your help.

We were contacted on April 1, 2022 by Ms. ****** via email that she had decided against our company for this year and didn't want the application we did a few days prior. When I looked at the notes on her customer account, it had indicated she had called us on 12/8/2021 and our Customer Service Rep made a time stamped note indicating she had asked to cancel the flea/tick program and the lime/soil-boost, but wanted to keep the Greening Program + Grub Prevention. I expressed this to Ms. ******, who emailed that she disagreed and said she didn't authorize service.

From there, I went and pulled our phone records and listened to the recording of the conversation that occurred on 12/8/2021. Ms. ****** was very straightforward and clearly stated she wanted to continue service for the season but wanted to make some changes to her existing program (hence cancelling the flea/tick program and lime/soil-boost). She indicated that she still wanted the grub prevention and the fertilizing program. Our customer service rep reviewed and confirmed all changes made as requested and Ms. ****** agreed. She did not indicate, at any time, that she wanted to cancel or she was still thinking about it. We did exactly what was asked of us on the phone call in December, had made all proper notes per her requests and started services in the spring as we were asked to do. There has been no "harassment" of any kind on our end. A paper statement that is automatically generated and sent when a bill becomes 30, 60, 90 days past due, is a part of our collections process. We note, time stamp and save records of all conversations to ensure we are properly noting what a customer requests and what changes are made to an account.

I contracted with best greening services to provide fertilizing services to my lawn during 2021. I was very displeased with their product and informed them several times during the year. I fulfilled my obligations under my 2021 contract and paid the company in full for their services. The company came out in March 2022 while I was not home and I presume that they assumed that I wanted to renew my service contract. I made no inquiry to the company in regards to renewing my contract and after the application in March was put on my lawn I contacted them and informed them to cease and desist. I told them that since I did not request the application or a renewal that I would not be paying them for such. They turned me over to a collection agency namely, ******** ****** ******** located in Farmington Hills Michigan. Upon receiving the collection notice I called Best Greening services and informed them that if they did not cease collection activity that I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau and the attorney general of Ohio.

We sincerely appreciate your business with us last year and are sorry to hear you were not pleased with the services. Our records show we had our Service Manager out several times last year to see how we could help, follow-up on weeds and address general lawn concerns (as this is complimentary to your program). We tried to resolve to the best of our ability and your satisfaction. We were never given notification that you wanted to cancel service with us, until after the application we did this spring. We do not work on a contract or require a signature to start, renew or cancel service. We do request that if you want to stop service, at any time, to please notify us so that we may do so.

Our invoices that are left after each application state: “For your convenience, all services will continue from season to season. For changes in service, please call us.” We also sent a letter after the 2021 season concluded (on November 30, 2021), with a list of services that you were scheduled for in 2022, and a notice that we will begin our services in March and to please contact us if the services are no longer wanted. This is not only our business policy, but an industry-wide standard with other lawn care companies as well.

The information that they allege was sent our left with me was never received. This is as I stated originally a deceptive business practice. They acknowledge that I was very dissatisfied with their service therefore, why in the would would I want to continue it? To think otherwise would be a gross assumption on their part!  I will be contacting the Attorney General of the State of Ohio to inform them of this companies deceptions.
