WARNING: Do not engage in business with Cleveland Aqua Pros unless you enjoy being frustrated for years on end. Signed a very large pool installation agreement back in April 2021. The pool JUST GOT FINISHED 2 weeks ago (October 2023) !!!! And that is only because I held back final payment until every last detail was complete. THE COVID EXCUSE IS OVER TOO, BY THE WAY. Major complaints: -pool is wrong depth -shoddy work (bowed wall, pool parts not installed, fence parts) -Jim and Tom NEVER RETURN CALLS OR TEXTS....I cannot for the life of me understand this. -Their work hours are 11:00-2:00pm and did not work more than 2 consecutive days at my house. -Couldn't get a crew here for concrete. I HIRED MY OWN CREW and had them here in 2 days. -Absolutely NO URGENCY to get this pool completed. Luckily, my husband is very handy and watched EVERY LITTLE detail and had them correct every mistake. At this point, WE can install a pool now! At one point this past summer, I paid an attorney to begin legal action to get it finished. DID NOT affect Tom one bit. Still no return calls and no showing up. What should be a wonderful & exciting event turned into a NIGHTMARE for 2.5 YEARS! BIGGEST MISTAKE going with Cleveland Aqua Pros.Cleveland Aqua Pros Response

We started speaking to the E**** in the summer of 2021. They did not sign a contract until winter of 2021. They were told waiting to sign the agreements would delay the start of the pool. The project was started in September of 2022. WE allocated two solid months to finish the pool. E**** created issues literally from day one. They stopped us repeatedly to second guess and question our process. We lost 6 weeks of the two-month period we set aside to build this project due to the homeowner demanding we compromise the integrity of the pool to install a drainage system under the pool. We stopped work and provided them with firsthand documented proof as to why we would not install these drains. During this time, we lost thousands of dollars in revenue. In this time the E**** also built a barn and poured concrete over our trench which left us with no choice but to dig all the way around the building at no charge. The pool walls were only out of level while the pool sat empty and back filled for 6 weeks. This is while we were discussing the requested drains. The walls were dug up and straightened at no charge once we continued working on the project. We accommodated all of their additional labor requests This turned into 5 guys pushing a trencher through the mud to run additional gas lines. When I took the next afternoon to spend three hours cleaning this machine and returning it to the rental yard Mrs. E**** decided to contact her attorney since I didn't come back to the property that day. This again further delayed the project for weeks. This day we had coping stone delivered to their property. With the intention of starting the coping the following day. Once we received a text from MRS. E**** stating she was calling an attorney we would not continue working until the matters were resolved. The concrete for this project was set to be poured on a Tuesday morning by our company at 8 am. I made the call to cancel the pour due to the fact that is was raining earlier that morning and did not want to risk giving the E**** pour looking concrete. This turned into Mrs. E**** yelling and swearing at us via text. She was told that we use a large crew of union finishers and that we would need to reschedule. this was not sufficient, so she called another crew which we paid. The fencing came in from the manufacturer with lose pieces. This turned into us hand screwing over 200 pieces into the fence once we found a solution to the issue that was acceptable to the E****. I agree there were quite a few days that we would not get to the property until 10 am. The E**** were told when they stopped work in the fall and spring that we would not push off other clients due to the delays they created. We allocated 2 solid months to work Soley on their project. This project would have been complete in the fall of 2022 if we had not stopped. The E**** created further delays by withholding payments. The first payment due after the pool walls were built Was delayed for a week because they were traveling. The response we received was you only show up wanting money. At one point we reached an agreement on the remaining balance only to again have to ask repeatedly for payments. I believe the statements in the initial complaint are not accurate and do not fairly represent what actually happened. I do not believe this should be on our report.Customer Response

We have all the communications to back up my original Review. Of course Tom is going to say it is our fault & we caused the delays. However, it is not a coincidence that ALL other Reviews on Cleveland Aqua Pros say the SAME THING. Simply put, we wanted a pool. We wanted it done right. And we wanted it completed in a reasonable time. That was way too much to ask of Cleveland Aqua Pros. What a nightmare.Review from Sandra K

I had dealt with Jim the past two years and at first, I thought they had office/admin. issues because they had to keep rescheduling our opening, but then I realized it is poor management. It took them weeks to come out to open and then to close our pool in 2021 and 2022, and Covid is over! At first, I was giving them the benefit of the doubt--that they are short-handed, but it is just poor time management and management skills. Good thing I did not have them replace my liner this year--the cost was insane, but even worse, Jim just contacted me on 4/10/23 about pool opening/liner replacement. He probably would have gotten around to ordering my liner/receiving it and installing it by July with the way they work. But the very worst of all, we caught them in a lie--his guys were out at our home (finally) to close our pool in 2022, the rain had just stopped (and it did not rain the rest of the day). They talked with my husband for a while, and then my husband left for work. When we came home from work, the pool was still open! They left because they did not want to work that day, not because of the rain. I called the office, and the admin. said my husband "told them to go". They lied--he most certainly DID NOT tell them to go (they were several weeks past the day they were supposed to close our pool, so there is no way he would have told them to leave)! I changed to another pool company, and they took the cover off yesterday to drain the pool and the pool is the worst I have seen it in 21 years. I think Jim and company cut corners and did not close our pool properly (it was in balance before closure--I am a nut about a clean, balanced pool) and did not add the closing chemicals when they FINALLY closed our pool in 2022. Thumbs down, zero stars, actually!Cleveland Aqua Pros Response

The tone of this complaint is petty. First, I am beyond offended at the implication that we are lazy, and do not want to work. Jim and I both work 50 hour weeks. We have over 1100 clients in our database. We would not drive almost an hour to a property to make an excuse to leave. This is rude, childish, and just mean. The liner on this property was floating. This means there is water under it. You cannot vacuum a floating liner without the potential to rip a hole in it. Imagine trying to vacuum a half full waterbed. On the day mentioned above " when we must not have wanted to work" we discussed this issue with homeowner and left. This was done at a financial loss to us. this cost us two hourly employees and fuel to drive over 35 miles each way. After providing a quote to replace the liner the homeowner asked for the pool to be closed in its current condition. We treated the pool the same way we treat over 150 pools every year at closing time. The chemical's were balanced. Which is not even relevant because the liner is being changed this spring anyways. I know this because I spoke with the company doing it.Review from Keith H

The owner, Tom, had very poor communication. Would not return phone calls. He was suppose to start working on our Pool June 2021. He finally started after paying him $5,000 under the table extra than our original quote, in September 2021. He didnâ??t finish the pool till January 2022. He always had an excuse for how long it took and blamed everyone but himself. I would have fired him Iâ??m summer of 2021 but was very limited in finding a replacement provider. There final product was ok, but the journey was extremely difficult . Issues with pool - wrinkles in liner, skimmers are rusting after 5 months, light in deep end is falling out and light in shallow end is rusted.
