Date of transaction 10-29-2021 I just came from the Marathon gas station at 2500 IKEA Way Columbus Ohio, I believe the store number is 400 490 or 490 400. The person on duty was ***. I bought four cans of beer at $1.99 apiece. He rang them up for $2.19 apiece. When I questioned that, he stated that he "doesn't have any control over that, what do you want [him] to do about it". When I asked to speak with the manager he became very agitated, told me there was no manager available, he then told me that "I shouldn't even drink beer... it is bad for me". He told other customers in line that I was upset over such a trivial amount money, and one customer offered me a dollar. *** continued belittling and berating me, until I walked out of earshot from the counter. When I again approached and asked again for the managers number, he gave me a number that turned out to be another customer’s number who had made a complaint. I was able to talk to someone at the customer service phone number, however with such a unique, singular experience, in a place of business, I felt this need to be addressed in writing as well. While I realize Covid has changed many things and many places of business are having trouble finding workers, I do not believe that anyone who owns a company or has an association with the brand would want one of their team members to ever treat the customer with such disrespect. It was mind-boggling for me to have an employee to be so evasive with a request to speak with a supervisor, and who would resort to rallying other customers to join in with his complaint of me "harassing" him over "so little money" and ultimately his threat to call the police and his ability to refuse me service. I find it unfortunate to have had this experience with the neighborhood gas station where I will stop frequently to buy beer and getting gas. I always found the employees to be friendly and very polite and professional. I don't think I can ever look at this store the same way again.
