I decided to change to Dr. ***** at Canyon Eye Assoc. due to a good friend’s referral. I called them in the year 2020 and asked if they accepted *** insurance to which they said that they were currently working on it and asked me to call back.
After a couple of calls during the year, they confirmed that they had now started accepting *** insurance*. So I made an appointment for 2021 which got pushed to Feb 2022, due to Covid. After the checkup I even bought glasses from them. Had a follow up checkup on Aug as well.
Now, in Oct, I was stunned to get a bill of $581 for the checkups. When I called their billing office, the lady said that they were out of network and so *** would not pay for my checkups. Before my appointment, at the counter after the checkups, at my glasses payment, no one ever told me that they don’t accept *** *********.
On the other hand I had waited for more than a year and only made the appointment after they confirmed that they had cleared their paper works with *** and were now accepting ***’s insurance. *** has been paying for my eye exams 100% with the other doctors I’ve been to. I could have easily gone to my previous provider if I was not misled by Canyon Eyes Assoc.
Their billing office kept insisting rudely that since I have signed that I was responsible if my insurance does not pay, they would send me to collection agency! Such bad mannerisms. Indeed I had to sign that before getting checked up, but wouldn’t have gone to their office in the first place if they had told me the right thing.
Every time I make an appointment with any doctor’s office I always check whether they accept *** insurance and only after that do I make an appointment.
This is the first time in 25 plus years at *** and having visited numerous doctor offices that I have been billed and being asked to pay or else being threatened that they will send it to collection!! What a shame!
Will really appreciate if BBB can act on my behalf and remove the charges.
