Where to start? For starters, they charged me $7400 for a 1200 square foot ranch with nine windows. I didn't know any better in the beginning, but I have learned a lot through this process. The second issue is that the guy, Doug, ordered replacement windows instead of new construction windows, when he KNEW there was going to be no siding. More importantly, he says that "new construction windows are *****" Ask him. Third, since he knew that he would not be doing the siding, they installed the windows so that they are recessed over an inch in from the plywood on the inside of the house. For those of you who don't know, this created more work for the siding people and makes his job super easy on the inside. Forth, he framed in two of the windows with a 2x4 and left no room for the window to be finished on the inside. I sent pictures to the manufacturer, **** ******* ** ****** ******, and he said the windows were not installed correctly. He said they were not water-tight. I thought "check and mate!" The manufacturer said it, so let's see if Doug will listen now. He said that the manufacturer was in the warranty department and doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. I created a ******** page for others who have been screwed by this terrible company. It's called, "Columbus Windows and Siding Fails." Please join and share your horror stories so others do go through the same thing My main reason for this complaint is that the company should have installed new construction windows. The caulking WILL fail and there did not need to be caulking where it is most likely going to fail. Basically, the way the windows were installed causes a maintenance issue that would not have needed to be an issue with the proper window. I had to agree to whatever they wanted to get the windows at least installed, I paid them, and I am forced to finish the siding this weekend. I had to do both of these things because it has been pouring down rain lately and the house has been getting wet
