Used this firm to conduct water damage remediation. Within 30 days they were in touch with and agreed to a settlement from insurance. However, they claim they have not received the insurance check. They did not contact me at all to advise me they were still waiting on payment, but simply tendered a notice of intent to file lien. They will not respond to my inquiries or explain why they did not call me when they said they did not receive the check from the insurance. Their first step was to threaten a lien. It's been about 45 days since their services were rendered. Insurance states they sent the check a week ago. I am extremely disappointed this service's only communication to me was a threat rather than an inquiry to allow me to call insurance to confirm payment.

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Dr Flood, a company that we hired to address the damage caused by a water-related incident in our home August 18, 2023.

We are deeply dissatisfied with the services provided and the unprofessional conduct displayed during the insurance claim process.

      1. Damage Exacerbation: Upon hiring Dr Flood to mitigate the water damage in our home, we expected a professional and competent service. However, their work resulted in further damage to our property. This not only delayed the restoration process but also caused additional financial strain and emotional distress to our family.

      2. Harassment and Threatening Emails: Throughout the insurance claim process, we experienced harassment and received threatening emails/text messages from Dr Flood and their representatives. These emails were disrespectful, intimidating, and caused significant emotional and financial distress to us, particularly considering our status as elderly homeowners. We felt pressured to pay them before receiving insurance company approved funds. During this time, Dr Flood was actively engaged with our insurance adjuster and knew the claim process.

      3. Refusal to Provide Waiver of Lien: Despite having been paid in full for their services on 10/18/2023, Dr Flood has refused to provide a waiver of lien. This refusal has left us in a vulnerable position, making it impossible for us to receive the insurance funds from our mortgage lender for the $4,548.18 we paid. We believe that the conduct of Dr. Flood is unethical, unprofessional, and detrimental to our well-being.

Their failure to provide contracted services to prevent further water/mold damage to our home and their aggressive behavior throughout the insurance claim process is unacceptable. We kindly request that the Better Business Bureau investigate our complaint and take appropriate action to address the issues raised. We appreciate your attention to this matter.

Thanks for allowing us to service you. I will look into this immediately.  We can definitely help with providing the lien release information.  We just ask that this will make the situation satisfactory.  We do not provide services to prevent water damage only after the damage has occurred.  You may contact a water proofing company to help in that manner. Thanks

The date of service was in March of this year. I googled serve pro company, called a number online who stated someone would call me with appointment. A number called I asked if with serve pro, man said yes (serve pro has no affiliation.) Dropped all 5 dehydrators and 6 fans for a small leak. They left for 7 days and used my electric and had no contact until bill of almost 5000.00. Delivery man said to sign for dropping off machines. They would bill the insurance company in which they did. Insurance company stated they could not find an I 9 Form to send check. They will not return calls. My insurance company stated they took advantage by using an excess of machinery. They added disposal charges for removing nothing. NO WORK was done. We explained there was an ONGOING leak and man just dropped machines off without attempting to fix the problem first . Never quoted a price. Insurance company attempted to call company on our behalf and asked for the manager. Person on phone number provided said he was in charge of everything, and then gave the name Itza, made no sense insurance company stated. No one could give him any information or a straight answer. Itza was the Person texting me about time delivery . The invoice is to overpriced for the small tub leak dripping into basement that had just started. Please help.

Dr Flood provided me services for water damage in my house. They billed be $8184. They had committed to working with my Insurance. Progressive insurance had an independent 3rd party analysis of the bill and per ********* the usual cost of the services is $6446 and an overcharge of $ 1735. Dr Flood refused to agree with this and initiated the move to take me to Court. I paid them the balance. I believe they should refund me what they had overcharged me i.e. $1735

      Complaint: 17455381

I am rejecting this response because: The Independent 3rd part analysis of the bill from Dr Flood is $1735 above what is usual and customary. So in essence they are overcharging.

I have had discussion with Progressive insurance already. Dr Flood hold the clients hostage by not providing an estimate before providing services and then overcharging afterwards. The analysis by ********* has already been attached with the initial complaint.

I believe they should reimburse the overcharged amount of $1735.00

I am rejecting this response because: this is the same response that my insurance agent and I have received in the past.

After all of the aggravation I have received from them, I am willing to pay about $500. All they did was bring in equipment and take off. No other service was rendered. Wayne is in the billing department. Wayne doesn't even live/work in Ohio. I think he is from Michigan. I dealt with Chance and Christian. There were three guys in two visits.

I was able to find a copy of the lien at the Recorder's office.

I previously sent pictures of the poor workmanship to them. I had to do the work myself as a family member was moving in the next week, and it needed to be done for the move in.

This company above charged us a total of $4,073.39 for water leak on our carpet to dry off that was the size a 4 x 6 carpet. We did not receive a quote.

On top of that they charged us an emergency fee which they came out 4 days later.

According to the company, Dr. Flood, this was supposed to go to the Insurance Company. We realized we didn't have any water damage kind of insurance. they billed us to get it paid immediately. We've emailed them that this is not ethical and it's price gouging.

A week later we even received a late fee charge which was ridiculous.

We would like a billing adjustment to be processed. This company is unprofessional, unethical and there are plenty of complaints on them. Please contact Itzel M. He is the individual that needs to be dealt with.

Listed above are the measurements from the water damage. Water damage was on two levels of the home. Wet Items were hauled away and Carpet was removed. A copy of the complete price list was provided at time of Service along with signed work authorization acknowledging the customers insurance would cover charges.

      Customer response

      06/10/2022

I am rejecting this response because we requested a quote. Not an Invoice.  There was no quote. They said they were going to submit a quote to Insurance and we never got a copy or if they even made a quote.  We would've shopped around for better pricing because what they did was price gauging just so that insurance can pay which we didn't have the insurance to cover for this.  Regardless, we did not receive a quote.

We discovered our finished basement flooded on Sunday September 27th. It appeared to have been flooded for a few days before we realized it happened. We were unable to make any progress trying to extract the water ourself. We stared calling companies to come and extract water and clean basement. We were having a difficult time finding anyone to come out and were put on sever waitlists. We found a website that connected you with available companies. Dr. Flood was a company we found through this site.

They said the could come out that day September 27. They canceled at last minute and told us they could come Monday at 8am. A young man showed up around 9 and began assessing the situation. After about an hour of trying to extract the water from carpet he told we would need to tear carpet out but he did not have staff to do that day. He left some fans and a dehumidifier.

After he left another company ***** *********** came out to look at our sump pump. He said he had staff that was available that day to rip out carpet and start cleaning basement. Since we had no signed contract with Dr. Flood and we weren’t sure when they would be back, we decided to cancel their services and use ***** ***********. We called Dr. Flood that day, Monday September 27 to tell them we wanted to cancel their service and ask them to pick up their equipment. They refused to pick up equipment and told us fans and dehumidifiers were a mandatory 3 day charge. We explained the young man who came out did not explain this or any of their procedures and we did not sign a contract so we were able to cancel service within 3 days. We offered to pay for time spent, roughly 3hrs of service and one day for equipment. They refused and did not come pick equipment up till Thursday September 30. They sent us a bill for 4217.61 which appears to include things that were not done. They refuse to adjust the bill which is what we ask every time the call or email. We do not think this fair at all.

12/30/2021 I called Dr Flood via a search online and requested they come for a estimate for sewage back up due to failure of sump pump and main line clog. I also had to call a separate company to unclog sewer and fix sump pump ** ********. Dr Flood mentioned price of 1500 - 2000 $ especially because it was limited to around the drains and only required removal of some items that were deposed of via our lawn for city garbage pick. This was advised by crew. I agreed to pay the 1500$ for the service and they insisted on 3000$ I explained I was paying out of pocket and they would give me a discount. I paid the $1500 per an agreement over the phone and they would try to get approval for discount bc I was not paying via my insurance company. Now they are charging for equipment and things they never used and I have witnesses and pictures to prove this is a joke and they are scamming and taking advantage of people. Unfortunately I am reading these complaints now and it turns out they have other lawsuits against them for the same complaints. They need to be investigated and consumers need to be made aware. They never shared a packet or invoice and all over the phone verbal agreement. I feel cheated and taken advantage of. They are also threatening to put a lien on our family home.

I contacted ###-###-#### which routed to Dr Flood on Aug 18th for water damage from a flood in my basement due to rain.

They must of sub contracted to another company because whoever came out was not wearing anything from Dr Flood and smelled of marijuana and never did they provide any kind of paperwork nor give any kind of estimate.

They did "extract" most of the water from my carpet and proceeded to say they was gonna drop off equipment to dry my carpet for 4 days.

When they came and picked up the equipment again never went over estimates or charges and stated they would follow up to complete the job, well a week later no response and i was charged $5,392.50 which was more then my entire unit to install the carpet and the things on the invoice do not match to what was done in my home and again, I never would agreed to, due to no professionalism of services and charges warranted.

This is a pure ripoff and I feel like i was taken advantage of and robbed of services I was charged for
