Around 1150pm on Jan 1st I came home from work and found my basement full of rainwater from a sudden surge in the sewer. (I was told this a few days later by the company that fixed it). I called ServiceMaster and told my complete situation. I had a basement full of standing water and I would like it taken care of as soon as possible. An appointment was made for early next morning Jan 2. A service vehicle showed up in the morning. The worker walked into the basement, saw the standing water and said that I would have to have another company come out and fix whatever caused the backup and drain all of the water before ServiceMaster could do anything about it. I told the person that when I called ServiceMaster I shared what was going on and that I needed it fixed. I was not made aware that I needed to have it drained before they could do any work. The worker said "I don't know why you weren't told that we couldn't do that", or something to that effect. The worker was in my house around 5 minutes total, or maybe less. They left and Saturday January 15 I received an invoice in the mail for $253.70. I do not feel that I owe any payment to ServiceMaster. When I shared what was going on and what I needed done when I made the initial appointment, I should've been told then that I would need to have the water drained before they could do any work.

Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2022/02/17) */ After reviewing the intake forms and discussing with all associates involved, it was determined that the caller had given us clearance to come out as he thought and communicated to us that the issue was fixed. Upon arriving at the residence, we determined that it was not and advised him on the next step of mitigation. For that reason he was charged a service call fee as is standard practice. With that being said, I am willing to cut the service call fee in half as I understand how Mr. may have been confused about what he was telling us. Since he has already paid his bill, we will be mailing a check in the amount of $125 to him at the address on file. We are considering this closed on our end.

ServiceMaster by Angler sent two employees to clean and pack our belongings due to a fire nextdoor which damaged our home. My pain medication was stolen by the female employee. She said she went through my entire house and picked up all the medicine and packed it after being told not to touch the medications because I already had them packed. When the workers realized I found my empty bottle the female was in a hurry to seal the box and I told her no. The workers left leaving all the materials behind. I was asked not to call the police by their supervisor. I had already called and made a report, which is on file with Dayton Police Detectives. It has the employees name. Also they broke my angels and tried to hide them in a box. Then disrespected my mother's urn. They left it partially wrapped with the plastic wrap roll still attached and hanging from the urn. They are thieves and very unprofessional.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/01/05) */ We were contacted by Mr. regarding the medicine complaints and issues with packaged angels. I agreed that it was best to call the police and we had them in our office that same day. They interviewed all parties and stated that they did not think anything happened from our end. I then spoke to Mr. regarding the broken angels. They owed a temporary service bill for boarding up the house for approx. $500. Mr. and I agreed that we would waive the fee in return for the damage. Besides the alleged theft and broken angels, there were other issues with racist comments being said to our employees, etc. I assume this was out of frustration from situation they were going through. We apologized and still apologize for any issue on our end. We cooperated with the police and even invited them into our facility. We credited $500 for the angels without question. This job is closed out on our end as we feel we have done everything possible to rectify the situation.
