Date: August 30,2022 Subject: Incorrect re-installation of gutter guards following the roof replacement project In August of 2021, ***** ***** ****** ** *** ******** (*****) had gutters cleaned and gutter guards installed by ***** ***** ****l. Over the course of November and December of2021, ***** had the roof replacement done by Roof Protector LLC by ****** ************. **** **********, Leadership Team member, was the contact person between ***** and ****** ************. ******’s contact person was **** ****. After completion of the roof project, gutter guards were noticed to be hanging loose from the gutters. One piece even fell to the ground. **** reached out to **** on December 20,2021, about this issue. **** replied that his crew had to remove them to install new shingles at the edge of the roof. No one from ****** attempted to rectify the issue. **** ******** joined the Leadership Team in February, 2022, to serve on the Stewards committee, under *** ****, the chair of the committee. **** became contact person between ***** and ****** on June 23,2022 at a Leadership Team meeting, in order to bring about the resolution of the outstanding gutter¬guard problem. Between June 28 and July 27, **** had multiple communications with **** **** of ****** by phone messages and texting. **** was told multiple times that the owner, ***** ******, would contact him. Other communications indicated that someone from ****** would meet **** at the church to take a look. These contacts never happened. No one met **** at the church and Mr. ****** never contacted ****. On July 7, **** texted to **** that the gutter guards could not be re-installed properly. Up until this point this information had never been communicated to the church. As of August 22,2022, there has been no contact from **** **** or anyone else from ****** since July 27. We therefore concluded that ****** is not interest in resolving the issue. *****. has moved ahead and contracted with another company to restore the gutter guards, as of August 22,2022. Note: This memo was approved by the full Leadership Team of ***** ***** ****** ** *** ******** on August 25,2022.

      Business response

      09/27/2022

BBB called the business and took response by phone.

There was a miscommunication from my former employee about the gutters. I was informed that they did have another business fix them.

      Customer response

      10/18/2022

Thank you for your letter regarding our complaint against Roof Protector LLC. As Leadership Team Chair of Lower Miami Church of the Brethren, I needed bring this matter before the team before responding. We met last evening, Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

To quote the “Message from Business” that you provided:

There was a miscommunication from my former employee about the gutters. I was informed that they did have another business fix them.

The business refers to “they.” I want to be quite clear that we, Lower Miami Church of the Brethren, are the party who contracted with a different company on August 22, 2022 to fix the gutter guards, which repair was performed in September.

The original contractor, Roof Protector LLC, did not contact us regarding repair; Roof Protector LLC did not have another business repair them; Roof Protector LLC did not play any role in correcting the problem.

As a church congregation, we are not interested in pursuing this farther. Our objective in contacting the Better Business Bureau is to make sure there is a public record of the company’s unsatisfactory performance in regard to the correcting the gutter guard problem.

We sincerely thank you for your assistance.
