Joseph Tree Service, represented by **** ****** and owner ******* ****** took down locus trees, that once lined our beautiful neighborhood street, in the spring of 2021. And although there was no visible sign of a problem we were told the trees had a black fungus and must all be taken down to keep the fungus from spreading. Yesterday, Nov. 1st, 2021, Joseph Tree Service was scheduled to make our neighborhood whole by replacing the downed trees. We asked them to replace tree for tree. Instead what they did was plant Silver Japanese Lilac "trees" - that looks like a bush and is, per an arborist website, commonly used as HEDGES"! All attempts to make this right were rebuffed. *******, who co-owns the business with his brother, said he had an email that we had "signed off" of that "tree" and would do nothing to make the issue right. I would HIGHLY recommend no one hire this bunch of HUCKSTERS. They employ double-speak and represent themselves as professionals when in fact they are actors, very believable actors, simply trying to fool their non-tree expert customers.Business response

We are sorry about the delayed response to this complaint, we were not aware of it until today.
We are also sorry that Ms. ****, who is a board member and privy to all recommendations and selections, is not happy with the trees chosen for replacement. Unfortunately, this is outside of our control for the work done was approved by the HOA board, including Ms ****, prior to completion. Options and recommendations were presented to the board that included pictures and species specifications and Japanese Lilac trees are what were selected and approved for replacement. To reiterate we only give options and recommendations to boards but have zero say in what is approved. We do agree with the boards decision that Japanese lilacs were a great choice for that location given that their mature height of about 20-30 feet and spread of about 15 feet would be ideal for this location. They can be planted close together as more of a hedge but don't need to be and they most certainly are a single stem tree and not a bush. It is not reasonable to ask us to replace perfectly healthy trees that were approved for installation at no additional cost. We are not "hucksters" or "actors" and did not employ any doublespeak. We fulfilled the work order exactly as requested and feel that this dispute should be closed in our favor.
