We hired ***** at the end of May, 2022 to do some remodeling work on a property. He agreed to complete the work in 6 weeks, since we had tenants moving in soon. We were under the impression that he had workers working for him. The quote was for $23,310 and he was to put flooring in entire house, remodel two bathrooms, and the kitchen. He was also to place a crawl space reinforcement. (was part of the quote) (We later found out that he had hired a company) He also had a roofer to replace the roof, which we were to pay for separately and directly to the roofing company. We later found out he was making profits from both through those companies. Those two projects were done quickly. 3 weeks later, the only things that he had completed himself was pulled up carpeting, a tub put in that had a wave in the bottom (dangerous for showers) (no drop cloth), mortar in the pipes, a wall that needed support, and niches that would not support shampoo bottles. He agreed to get another tub and redo it, but the niches weren't any different and there was dried mortar all over the new tub. We knew we were running out of time, and couldn't find quality cabinets in time, so we decided on no new kitchen, and I told him we were hiring someone to help him finish the work. We still had two bathrooms to finish, leveling concrete floors, pulling up tile, and flooring to be put in (including removing moulding), all with him to complete in 3 weeks. When we walked in, flooring had been started before any of the bathrooms no leveling was completed-and some of the flooring being put in was damaged. When I told him I was hiring someone to help him, he picked up his tools and said he was not going to continue. I asked how I could get some of my money back, and he replied, "we should be even". I told him $8,000? to take up carpet, pay 2100 for the crawl space reinforcers, and put in a tub that has to be redone? According to his own quote, that comes to $3268 from 8,000= 4732 needs refunded.
