We entered into a contract with ANW construction on 11/2/22 for the renovation of our home. The contract stated to remodel the whold house with specifics about each area. The contractor requested half the contract value as a deposit. They completed only two rooms after 3 months and have left another room demoed and unfinished and are now asking for more money to complete the rest of the contracted work. I would like the company to return 1/2 of my deposit as I do not trust them to complete the work.Business response

I had a labor agreement with a costumer to which they was to buy all materials.. we was to give a house a full face life! As the job progressed and the customer had added and changed a few things.. we as the contractor was to replace all (existing) plugs and outlets (not run new wires and add additional lights plugs or outlets! One we had extinguished the deposit from the project from doing the extra work I sent them a text in detail going over what we had done! The customer acknowledged the work that we had done and try to say it was my fault that we kept moving forward! So much so we finished the upstairs and moved downstairs to make a bedroom into a bath!
This is the tex I sent him

We will need to make a new contact for the additional stuff you want done! I will need paid for all the extras we have done so far!
$100 for four loads to dump
$1000 for upstairs floors extra prep time and the fact that you changed from carpet to the floating floor is $4 a square extra that's $1800 and 14 can lights hard wired is $1500! And $1200 in labor to build 8 custom closets that was to be a knee wall.. total is $5600
The additional amount for the demo of the existing bathroom and complete remodeling of the existing bath is $5000 extra and the extra doors and hanging of new cabinets will be $800 in labor.. we will need half down and half when completed on the new additions! And if we are to wire all the other stuff in the last 5 rooms it will be $2500 for labor for my electrical person to come do that.. we had to do it before to move forward as you was at work! And I can't keep adding additional things to the work load without putting it on paper and both agreed on it.. you completely dropped the hole bathroom remodel on me and I didn't even know about it! The contract says we are to repair the drywall and paint! Not gut a bathroom and add closets.. if you have any issues please call me after 5..The customer acknowledged that I did the extra work… He tried to say that the closets were a new wall. In fact, they were not…
We did the work and he didn't want to pay us to keep going! Extra work is extra labor
we did $5600 worth of extra work. He gave me $6000 down we extinguished the deposit that's why I sent him a detailed message explaining to him what we did… he absolutely knew what we did and let us carry onto the downstairs and once I didn't have any money to move forward because of the down payment being extinguished then he had an issue with it… But he didn't have a problem with anything when I was working for free so he thought
