              I had an appointment scheduled on Monday of this week. I got sick over the weekend and tried to get a Covid test. I could not get in to get the Covid test until Monday afternoon. I was advised that I should quarantine myself until I could get a Covid test. I call Northeast Dermatology on Sunday night and left a message for them and let them know the circumstances. I didn't want to expose anyone so I canceled the appointment. I called again Monday morning to ask if they got the message and I was told they did. I got a letter telling me they were charging me $35 for no show because I didn't give them a 24 hour business day notice. I asked them how I could give the notice if I got sick over the weekend. I was told it didn't matter they are still charging me. I asked if I should have come in to expose everyone in the office. I didn't get an answer. I even said that I could prove I got the Covid test. They are still charging me. I have made many referrals to this office over the years. What a way to conduct business.

              First of all, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. It is only through processes such as these that we are able to fully explain a policy if it is unclear and improve the customer experience. Also, we certainly hope that you are doing well and recover soon.It is our policy to require 24 business hours notice for an appointment cancellation in order to avoid a no-show penalty. In this particular case, we believe you had a very good reason for not keeping your appointment. If we were in your situation, it is quite possible that we wouldve likely canceled as well. Unfortunately, that still does not give us ample notice to fill that appointment slot. There is a very significant amount of overhead and staff expense that goes into being available for these appointments. iIn much the same way if a person had a ticket for a concert, if they were unable to make that date due to cancellation for any reason, it is highly unlikely a refund would be given. That reservation is simply unable to be filled or utilized. A $35 no-show fee only helps to offset a fraction of that expense for overhead. We do absorb the remainder.
