We accepted an offer from L&L Hardwood Floors to refinish the hardwood floors and to repair areas where the wood was missing in a home that we are renovating in ****** *******. The price to refinish the floors was $5,205 and the repair work was $3,000. We are satisfied with the refinishing portion of our agreement and we have submitted payment of $5,205. We are very disappointed with the repair work that was completed. While remodeling the entire property, we saved a lot of matching wood (ash floors) that could have been used to repair many of the holes. Although the extra wood was installed as a floor in another room of the house, we were told that the tongue and groove portion was too worn to use as repair wood for the areas that we had. L&L Hardwood Floors opted to install new oak floor instead of taking the extra time involved to use the extra wood that we have saved. We have been on the schedule with L & L Hardwood Floors for a few month. When they arrived they told us that it would take 2 weeks to get new ash wood in to complete the repairs but they could use oak that was readily available and no one would know the difference. As the photos show, this is incorrect. Why did they not order the correct material prior to our install date ? The wood floors upstairs are pine. Some of the pine that was installed did not take color and I was told that these boards would be replaced although they never were. There is an area in the front closet that should have been patched with matching pine although L&L refinished the patch wood that another contractor had simply used to fill the hole which does not match. When I arrived once the job was complete I was told that I could not go in the building to check out the work as the floors were wet but I was required to provide payment in full. I did provide a check for $8,205 which I stopped payment on once I visually saw the finished job. L & L Hardwood Floors has filed a mechanic's Lien on the property.
