I contacted Mr L*** Jr. on thumbtack and asked him if he was able to do a list of work for an investment property unit. I gave him the lockbox key and paid him as he was doing the work. Since I was not able to be at the location I told him I would see what the property manager says about the work and reach out to him. Upon reaching out to him after getting in contact with the property manager I was blocked. The property manager told me the paint he used was different from what I bought for him and that he did not lay the vinyls correctly. Selective pictures were taken and it appears the appliances are missing from the unit. I had to pay again to have the flooring redone and house painted. No response for my query about what happened to the appliances was found.

      Hello,
My name is Alfred l*** and I am responding to a customer complaint that was mailed to my old address. The customer claims a property manager is requesting a refund for previously completed work. To start off my current addition is 13751 Grove Dr. Garfield Heights Ohio. This job was completed months ago and a full video walkthrough was issued before payment. I am unsure why **** is sending another guy as the property manager when I was told he was the property manager. Everything from paint to vinyl was purchased by **** and shown receipts for. Below I have a screenshot (below) of **** sending payment and saying the flooring looks good after full video walkthrough of the job was completed. I am not sure if there doing some kind of scam, there where no working appliances when I entered the apartment and I was told to trash everything remaining in the apartment .

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have a difficult time believing Mr. L*** honestly thought I was trying to scam him as we not only paid him in installments, but I didn’t ask for any money when I complained to him later, yet he was the one who refused to respond and even blocked me. I originally reached out to Mr. L*** on the Thumbtack app, where he marketed himself as a handyman and sent him a video of the property manager detailing the work that was needed for the unit to be market ready, to which he said he could do labor for everything for $1500, he later changed his fee to $2000; he later deleted his thumbtack account or blocked me. Not a single time did I tell him I was the property manager, and it was clear that I wasn’t in the location, which was why I gave him the lockbox code and told him the property manager should have left the key in there, which he did. Mr. L*** he did most of the work but didn’t do everything, including changing the outlet and switch, and cleaning (which I paid him over a $100 extra to do since he said he would subcontract someone to do), all of this was in good faith that the work would be done well, and I even told him that I would let the property manager check the work since clearly I couldn’t see it for myself, which was referenced in the text. On top of that I told him that if everything went well, I would ask him to be my handyman for the property, to which he agreed and gave me his number. My complaint was very clear, that Mr. L*** shouldn’t have told us he could do work he did not have the skill to do and that he didn’t do everything. He gave me a list of supplies he needed, and I wasted my money buying a lot of them, the most expensive being he had me purchase vinyl sheets when I asked him for a specific vinyl flooring, I wish I had known at the time the difference, but I trusted his professional character. Not only was the wrong flooring purchased, even with the vinyl sheets he didn’t prep the floor or cut the vinyl clearly, which can be seen in photos taken by the property manager but not Mr. L***s pictures. Another example was that he left the wall in worse condition that he met it when he painted the wall with two different tones, this was brought to my attention by the property manager who couldn’t believe we paid someone for that. If Mr. L*** hadn’t blocked me, I was only going to ask him to repaint the house properly or have someone else repaint it, and then refund me the money I paid him for the cleaners. I was already taking a loss on the supplies that were wasted. However, since I had to pay someone else to redo a lot of his work, I was just looking for a $500 refund to make the difference from his original quote and a refund of the money I paid to clean, which I also had to pay someone else to do.

      Regards,

      **** ********
