Just over 1 year ago we had Allied Paving provide us a new asphalt driveway. Once completed, there were still areas of concern which the company did address. Allied did correct those problem areas. Once the new asphalt was laid they advised us to refrain from parking on our new driveway for roughly a week in order for the asphalt to cure properly. We complied, and even refrained from parking on our driveway for 3+ weeks. Why 3 weeks you ask? Well that was one of the original problems we had in the beginning. After the asphalt was laid, divots were quickly forming from where our vehicles were parked. We do not have exceptionally heavy vehicles (Ford Fusion and a Ford F-150). I attempted to contact the company NUMEROUS times and could not get past the receptionist (Whom was nothing but a delight to talk to. She was very friendly with me.). After roughly 3 months of never getting a call back and constantly being told that someone would come out to talk with me, I finally got ahold of the owner of the company. We setup a time to look over the driveway. This was my first time meeting him and he was nothing but confrontational with me. I do not mind if someone is a jerk or has a bad attitude, but the owner constantly made excuses for the divots which I did not agree with. He made outlandish excuses such as; the foundation to my house could be the cause of the divots, he stated that the soil underneath the asphalt could be bad, he stated that all of the asphalt driveways in my neighborhood have the same issues (then proceeded to point out a very old, broken up, and falling apart asphalt driveway down the street). Finally, he also stated that the size of the divots were "normal wear and tear". I politely disagreed and asked if there was any solution we could come to, he stated that there is nothing further that can be done. I request that someone from BBB come out and look at my driveway if possible. Please and thank you.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2021/11/10) */ As Stated we installed the customer's driveway in June 2020. There were some issues with indentations at the top of the drive. It was decided to remove the top area, recompact the base and then we repaved the entire drive. Once complete every customer receives a Booklet "Your new driveway: the how, why, and when of asphalt driveway care." (A copy can be provided if requested). This booklet explains that asphalt driveways are soft and pliable. Asphalt does not have the same characteristics of concrete. That small puddles are inevitable depending on slope and ground drainage. It also explains about not parking your car in the same spots or turning your tires. And much more information. The customer also signed a contract which states: "Allied Paving is not responsible for water holes under 1/4" . In April 2021 we send a flier to our customers about seal coating the drive (this customer received one and a copy can be made available if requested). There is a box to check on this form if there are issues with the drive that need to be addressed prior to sealing. The box was not checked and they paid for the sealing in advance. Driveway sealing was scheduled June 3, 2021, again the customer made no mention of any issues. On June 4th after the drive was sealed the customer called to say he still wasn't happy with the paving. He called again July 13th because he hadn't heard anything. (We acknowledge this was 6 weeks after initial complaint). On July 20th the owner went out and met with the customer. At this time they ran water over the drive to look at the problem. There were small puddles on the drive holding water about 1/8". Which is less than the contract states (the contract can be made available upon request). The owner did point out the condition of the foundation and other issues with neighbors driveways not as an excuse but to give a possible explanation of ground movement and settling, things that cause dips and cracks and that the company cannot control. The owner then did state that according to our contract nothing else could be done.
