In July, we had a quote to move a small backyard vinyl shed across the backyard (attached) which we thought was very reasonable. We budgeted and saved the money and had work started in October (invoice attached). When the workers showed up, they were great. They were professional and worked very hard. I believe they had a skid steer delivered early in the AM and it was onsite when the workers arrived. They said they had ordered gravel and I asked how many cubic yards. He replied they only deliver by the truckload, not by volume. This is not true. We have a company that does gravel delivery by the cubic yard about a mile away ( ******** *****)when the gravel came, it was WAY more than was required by the job. There was so much left over, we had a small turnaround made on the driveway with it. When finished for the day, they workers said they would come tomorrow morning to tie up loose ends. The skid steer was removed from site the day after it was delivered (1 day rental). After receiving the final bill (attached) I was shocked and angry it was more than 2X the quote! I understand there was charges for the skid steer, but they were never detailed on the quote. The skid steer rental appears to have been kept for more than 1 day and used at other jobs by the company according to the charges on final bill. I feel the quote was DELIBERATELY misleading and under quoted. I understand sometimes things go awry and a bill can be slightly higher than quoted. However this job went smooth and easy, even able to reuse some materials onsite. We have used this company before and the quotes were highly accurate. If the true cost of the job had been outlined prior to work starting, we WOULD NOT have agreed to begin work, and I think the company knows that. I feel the skid steer charges are unacceptable and make no sense, and is purposely deceptive. I would have picked up a skid steer myself had they outlined the charges on the quote.
