      8/13 to 20 was a lot of firsts for my little family such as: camping in a camper, learning the life of a 4-her, caring for/showing a commercial feeder & market steer away from home, etc; with no prior knowledge, life was full of uncertainty and stressful. on top of this the camper we had borrowed had water leaks, which only made themselves known when we hooked the water up and flooded the camper on move in day, 8/13; this day was also my mother's funeral, who had unexpectedly passed away. the parts needed to repair the camper, were dealer only parts, and the closest dealer was 2 hours away; we left early to grab the parts and make it to my mom's funeral. on top of this we were stressed out as we didn't know what was the appropriate dress attire for the show ring and we needed to get said clothes somewhere that day. my daughter, *****, remembered hearing about Kelly D's Kloset, and had been wanting to visit it but it was about an hour, in a direction we never travel but were that day and planned to stop, if timed allowed. First we drove to the camper dealership; upon arrival their forklift backed into my van, which delayed us to & we missed my mom's funeral; distraught and in pain I knew she needed show clothes so I added a detour to Kelly D's to our route. once the detour was added our eta was 10 minutes after they closed; so I called and explained the situation, they agreed to stay open. We arrive and the boutique owners mom was working, noticeably in pain she told me to rest she would help my shy, 14 yr old. ***** rushed to try on the outfits that had been picked out for her and checked out. once at the camper I noticed a belt was defective & planned to return it as soon as possible, so I sealed the receipts and belt in a bag until we could drive there; sadly the following week my transmission went out. 10/7, today, we made the long drive up to Kelly's but she refused to return stating all sales final, but this wasn't mentioned at checkout or posted.

      To whom it may concern regarding Kelly D's Closet & ***** ****** ID ********.

      Our store policy is items such as clothing & shoes can be exchanged for a store credit within 7 days of purchase.

      Jewelry, belts, wigs & clearance items are FINAL SALE!

      Also - she purchased the belt back in early August & she tried to return it in October (way after 7 days).

      Belts are also final sale. The belt reeked of cigarette smoke and was even broken.

      We here at Kelly D's inspect ALL items before we put them on the floor to sell and would NEVER put a broken belt out on the floor (we would have sent it back to the supplier).

      She clearly wore it for over a month, broke it and tried to return it.

      We were very nice to her & explained all of this to her but she was very rude & did not want to accept my answer & policy.

      We do have signs all over my store stating our policy.

      Better Business Bureau:

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

       

      there wasnt a return policy or signs posted anywhere in the store the day of purchase or day we tried to return it. 

       

      in response to the belt being worn: belt was purchased for the sole purpose  for my daughter to be appropriately dressed for the show ring. I didn't know what cattle woman wear and Kelly's mom actually picked and dresses my daughter; her mom said, "this is how they dress when showing", sadly it was in correct attire, per 4h advisor, forcing us to purchase additional outfits. my daughter tried ok the outfit with belt at the store and wore the outfit (without belt) for pictures only but hasn't touch the outfits since. if you look at the photos taken during fair week you will see that the belt wasn't wore. 

       

      if you look closely at the belt you can see the belt wasn't wore, the original price tag was still attached by a thin attachment; had it been worn the tag would have ripped of easily. also the way my daughter is built, if she had wore it one would see the leather stretched and indentation in the belt from the buckle, which doesn’t exist.

       

      finally the belt was left in the original bag it was purchased in, tied shut, inside  a cabinet in the camper. which we only stayed in during the  fair (6 days); it remained there until the day we attempted to returned it. I am a smoker and may have smelled of smoke; however, the camper was borrowed from a nonsmoker; it was never smoked in and could not have smelled of smoke. 

      we live about 2-3 hours ( round trip ) away from Kelly D's, it's not as if it was in our backyard, which made it hard to find time to return but again we didn't know/see any return policy; if we had we would have never shopped there.

      i feel as if Kelly D's is grasping at straws to justify her not accepting  the return. I have never meant a store/boutique who treats their customers this way; especially considering we drive 3 hours round trip and spent almost $400.

      Tags can easily be removed, it is just a string that pulls through, you can remove & string tough easily. When she tried to return, 2 employees & myself was at the register & could verify that it reeked of cigarette smoke. She tried to return a month & a half later. The belt was in perfect condition when we sold it to her (she was at the register paying & even looked through it all). Video can back that up. I've been in business for 15 yrs & have never had any problems. Attached are pics (we take pics of all inventory before we put it online or in the store). No place would accept a return a month& a half later (especially being damaged & reeking of cigarette smoke). It looks as if she tries to do this to a lot of businesses, judging by her Facebook - she is known for this kind of behavior. (Attached are a few posts she made about other businesses).

      Attached also are pics of my store will all sales final signs in 3 different areas.

      Attached also are pics of my store will all sales final signs in 3 different areas. She has also tried to dispute the charge with my bank, when she clearly has the merchandise (so it is basically stealing). I will be in contact with my attorney if she doesn't stop harassing me.
