On July 21, 2021 our computer froze. Words came over the screen saying it was locked up. I noticed a small icon at the bottom of the screen that looked like a MicroSoft support phone number. I called and it was Cuvesk. After installing a program so they could "control" our computer, they went on to explain that our IP address had been made public and dozens of people were using it to do all sorts of unsavory things. After paying $350, they "fixed" our problem. I was a little suspicious because I never did speak to a person from MicroSoft, but they repeatedly reminded us that they were our computer "go-to" company to solve any problems. ("grooming" us for the next con) Then, November 17th we received an email from our provider that someone from Canada tried to get access to our computer and "should we allow access?" Of course, not aware of what was happening, I called Cuvesk for their advise. Again they "took control" of our computer. THIS TIME, the "problem" was, we didn't have Virus and Malware and Identity Theft protection. They showed us all kinds of porn sites that our unwanted "users" had been on and caused even more virus problems. Now, we were getting suspicious. But, they assured us this was the LAST time we would need any help from them if we paid the $850 for lifetime protection from everything. So, we did. Then, on December 20th we received an email saying that someone made a log-in attempt to our account from an unknown browser. At this point, I was upset with Cuvesk because we were supposed to be protected! Eventually, a salesperson from Cuvesk said that we had 20 minutes to decide to buy another $600 for more protection OR they would cancel the past contracts and only return HALF of our money. At this point it was obviously a scam, but they had control (and presumably access) to all of our computer data, so I was afraid to say no. Just like other complaints - they are polished con men that create problems so they can charge you to fix it!!

Cuvesk is a genuine company and provide its services to hundreds of customers daily. After investigating the case below are my findings:-

On 21st July 2021, we first communicated with the customer. The customer called us, as his computer was infected by a virus. We fixed the issue against a charge of $349.99
On 16th Nov 2021, The customer called us again with his second computer as he was facing security issues. We fixed the problem and charged him $850 for cleaning the computer, adding the security software, and for future support on his computer.
On 20th Dec 2021, the customer called us with an issue related to his email. On this day customer was provided support on his computer and was offered an Email Protection Software which cost him $600

In none of the scenarios, the customer was forced to make the payment. The customer made the payment at his own will. I apologize if the customer has not been satisfied with our service. What best we can do is credit back the $600 which the customer paid for Email Protection Software.
For more help or information customer can always call us at 1-866-740-4855 and we will be here to help him.

November 22 my laptop had a message that my computer had been hacked and call this number to fix it. I called the number and they claimed to be Microsoft. Illegal? I asked how I could know this & was showed Microsoft homepage with the hackers phone number. He told me China hacked it and had my banking info and all my information. Actually Cuvesk did. I was dhowed files which they claimed were mine and they were compromised. Then said they could clean it up. Like a fool I let them. Then they said I needed a new security plan. I told them I would get Norton and they said it would not cover everything. He showed me prices and I chose the lowest price of $400. Again, like a fool I gave them payment information. Afterwards I thought about it and figured out it was a scam so I called my credit card company and cancelled my card and ordered a new one. I asked them to deny the charges because I was scammed. They said they would but did not. I called them and explained it to 4 different people and finally was connected to the dispute dept. She told me to call Cuvesk and try to get my money back then call back & ask for dispute dept. The call lasted 4 hours. When I called Cuvesk and got the recording that it was not a working number. I called the credit card company and they would not connect me to the dispute dept and they wanted me to tell them again what happened. I talked to two people who I couldn’t understand and got very upset. I wasn’t up to getting the run around again. I took my computer to a shop to get it cleaned up and put a security program on it. I changed passwords on my accounts. My current password on Amazon didn’t work and I spent a lot of time getting it changed. Later l got notice from Amazon that there was an inquiry on my account from a desk top in Utah. I live in Ohio. Changed it again and got the same message & changed my PW again. I am going to file a dispute on the credit card website. I just want my money back. This has been hard on me.

8/3/2021 My computer locked and I was unable to use my computer at all. A banner came up saying my information was in danger and that I should call a number. They stated they worked for Microsoft and I gave the access to my computer. Later in the conversation after they removed all the bad files from my computer, they asked if I would like life time protection from this happening again. It was $999.99 for life on all devices. I agreed to this amount as I felt I didn't have any other options. In doing research after this call, I could have had this fixed for free and then installed a much more reasonably priced protection. The man that helped me was very nice, but I'm not by any means a computer literate person. I just trust people. I feel like I was made to think I had no other options. I would like to have this money reimbursed. As I was paying they then told me they had no affiliation with Microsoft, I felt trapped and payed. Please help! I have removed this software from my compute
