On 4/14/22, I requested a service call. I was told a service call would cost $88. When the tech arrived and started working, he said $88 only covered 1/2hr. then it would be $99hr. I called the company and spoke to the owner. He said this was a miscommunication by a new employee. He agreed to charge only $88 to diagnose the problem. Within appx. 20 minutes the tech found that the problem was the capacitor. I told him the unit was under warranty. He called ******* to confirm. They gave him a location to pick up a replacement part. The tech informed me it was a minimum charge of 2 1/2 hrs. of labor if he had to pick up the part. The pickup location was 15 min away. He said he couldn't pick it up because they were closing. He said if he had to come back it would be an additional service charge. The option he left me was to pay for a universal part or not receive service. I needed the unit fixed and couldn't pay for an additional service call. I was stuck paying for a generic replacement part. He charged me $205 for a generic part when the O.E.M part was free. I was charged $293 for a generic part and appx 1 hour of labor. The pricing and charges practices are deceptive and deceitful. This company was more interested in overcharging me for a generic part and excessive labor. Charging a customer 2-1/2hrs. ($250) of labor for a covered part is unacceptable. This service call should have been no more than $150. It took the tech less than an hour to fix the issue. He spent more time on the phone with his office, *******, and filling out paperwork than on repair. The part was covered by warranty and I was overcharged on every aspect of this transaction.
